BaoFeng BF-888S Two Way Radio with Built in LED Flashlight (Pack of 4) + USB Programming Cable (1PC)

Got these for our church safety team. The included cable didn't come with a cd like some do. The cable was recognized by my Windows 10 computer. They were easy to program with the included cable & CHIRP free software that I downloaded from the internet. I changed the squelch from 5 to 3. So far, they work as well as the $189 radios the team currently uses. However, I can buy 12 of these for less than one of the other brand. They are about the same size, but these are lighter. I do think the more expensive ones are better made. I got these for spares & to use in the classrooms. They are not used roughly at church. I have read many reviews by safety teams, security guards & HAM operators. Most reviews are positive. The earphone is wired all the way to the earpiece, and not acoustical tubing. I like this better because it gets louder. It will take earphones that use the K plug. The only negative thing I found in the reviews is that they are 1.8-3 watts when transmitting, not 5 watts. They work fine inside & outside of the large buildings we use. I did try using them at my house. I rode a bike 3/4 mile line of sight so that I would be transmitting through a wooded area. I was able to talk to my grandkids at the house, but it had static. I let the grandkids play outside with them for a few days & they didn't break them. I still let them play with them. The only thing I don't like is that the channel numbers on the dial are black on a black background, making them impossible for me to see. The radio does verbally announce the channel # when you turn to it. It can be programed to scan all, or selected channels when placed on Ch16. While not the best, I think these are more than good enough for what we need.

This 2 way radios are awesome. Not to mention they have great reception and easy to use functionality, but with them having the included earpieces, you get to feel extremely cool while using them.The ear piece has a push to speak button and has very good clarity, with little to no distortion.The radio itself has a flashlight built in, and seems to be very well made. We have used these multiple times to see how long the initial charge would last and it's still holding with moderate use.Each radio comes with a belt clip, ear piece, wrist strap, and battery.These have proved to be a great purchase. Highly recommend you taking a look at them.I did receive this item at a discount to provide my unbiased opinion. I take this very seriously and always use the products before reviewing. They feel pretty light which is good but also does. It inspire confidence in quality. they do have more metal than you would think inside for the weight i watched a video on you tube and most of the guts are metal. the range for me was about .5 miles in densely wooded areas. I don’t doubt they would do more with open area/ and line of sight. It is nice that you can replace the antenna which I have ordered just waiting for them to come and I will re test. overall they get the job done . Only gave 3 stars for battery life as I have not really tested that . They are easy to use but supposedly they are illegal with out a license.. due to the removable antenna, programmable ability’s and 5 watts of power ehh what ever. Over all I’m happy with them. And they won’t see a ton of use .. I think they will withstand some bumps / drops without issues. ear peices are cheap.. I bough I high quality replacement also awaiting its arrival. overall for the family/ shtf comms Or for basic security work.. within .5 mile they will do the job . but do not expect the claimed range!Note] I have successfully programmed these with the supplied cable multiple times with CHIRP software!! No need to worry

What can I say. These are the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches of a work-site comm system. Cheap, easy to use / setup, customizable, and all Around good lifetime for the money. At around 10.00 a radio we typically get 6 Mos service out of a unit in high-impact, dirty, outdoor work environment. Range is as expected for a low output power (in reality around 1 - 2 watts Max - some reviewers say less than 1) but they work great over around 1 city block.If your going to use these for work - get a good pouch to protect it from the elements and replace the antenna. The antennas are junk. I recommend the soft flexible Hypario 508 X-SOFT mini Dual Band antennas. We put them on the radios and pull the rubber cover off right away which allows them to fold into our pouches. For that I recommend the Condor Molle Gadget pouch.

When looking for these radios I really couldn't find any reviews regarding uses inside concrete buildings so wasn't too sure if they'd work as advertised. Well, these little things have really surprised me and are working fantastic.We sell food in the front entrance of a mall and have a kitchen on the inside of the mall that is about 100 mtrs inside which is not line of site and has probably 8 cement block walls and a few concrete columns in between. Using these radios we are able to communicate without any issues between them. The fact that they have 16 channels is a bonus as other shops have also bought the same radios and we've had no interference between them at all.We have been so impressed with them that we bought a few more and gave them to our young kids to use outside, so no more shouting up the street for them to come back home.

Works great for price and what you need. Lots of options for accessories. Don't get alot of interference from other stander 2way radios. Battery last a decent time over time recommend getting new batteries after a few years but still work great after 5 years.

Beware of open package sales. Provided programming cable was defective. Luckily I had a good cable to program with. All other conditions for these radios was great! Great price for four radios.
