Hand Held Electric Hot Knife Rope Cutter Set - 100 Watt, Cutting Blade (HHHK-HS18)

Every time I try to cut or saw thin plastic containers for any reason, they crack and break and snap where I don't want them to. I realized I should try a plastic burning tool to cut them without them cracking and it works wonderfully. I love this tool and I am a tool freak. Use it outdoors so the toxic fumes from the melting plastic won't hurt you (or wear an activated charcoal mask). My only complaint is the carrying case. I have tools from Bosch, Metabo, Porter Cable, and others and every case was picked or designed by the manufacturer to be able to hold the tool with at least a small bit in place. With this case, I would need to remove the enclosed cutting blade every time I want to put the tool back in its case. That's bull and I don't have time for it, so I will look at cases by pelican and others and find one that will hold the unit with the blade installed so I don't need to take it apart every-time to put it back in its case.. Not sure if they are trying to save money with a smaller case or what, but for me it shows a company that isn't thinking of the end user.

This thing is awesome. I had to cut 45 strips of Sunbrella for piping. I cut 5 strips using a Weller soldering iron and it took me 30 minutes. I cut 40 strips with this in under 20 minutes. Could not be more pleased. Although, not shown in the pictures, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the knife comes with a nice plastic case and a metal brush (just like the Sailrite knife kit). This knife is 100 watts and I had to turn it down to about 75% heat to keep from toasting the plywood I was cutting on. Even then, it cut just as fast as I pushed it.

We use this to trim/cut Sunbrella and other similar materials. This unit has lasted for a few years now and has operated flawlessly the whole time in fairly adverse conditions (we keep it on our offshore sailboat).

Worked great for 1 day. Then died.

The Knife works great, 1/2 the price of other and looks the same as the one Sailrite has for two times more. (Very good Company/Product)Thank you.

It worked the first two weeks and then on and off. Once the bright light came on, worked like a charm... now after 6 months stopped working... so not a happy camper.

Wish I had discovered this before now, I use it a lot more than I expected to. Works great easy to use, heats up quickly. You do have to let it cool down before you can take it apart and put it away.
