The Now Now

Peak of gorillaz career? Possibly. The best album they ever put out? Hmm, maybe.
I adore this album start to finish. Many bangers and super vibe/atmospheric tracks. As other reviewers said. It doesn’t have a true story behind the lyrics like demon days but not every album has to rely on backstory. And yes, this is a step up from humanz. But I appreciate both for having their own style.Humility - 4.9/5 (Yes, that’s all I can say)Tranz - 4/5 (that bass, lyrics, chorus, super satisfying)Hollywood - 3/5 (the beat does get intense but drags on. Snoops rap is super catchy)Kansas - 5/5 ( I adore this song., my god it’s amazing)Sorcererz - 5/5 ( yes I did over play it but wow it’s sound orgasmic)Idaho - 3\5 ( even my mom likes this song. Only problem is the song gets pretty loud towards the end)Lake Zurich - 5/5 ( yup this it. Will instantly put you in a good mood and get you moving)Magic City - 4.7/5 (I love this song for what it offers. The song switches between sound but still stays intact and mellow.Fire Flies - 4.2/5 (find a spot with no light pollution and lay somewhere where the stars are vibrant with this song playing)One percent - 5/5 (most people think this song is the worst here. But I’m the opposite. Lyrics or not, the instrumentation is a beauty.Souk eye - 5/5 (killer track, amazing vocals and I honestly wouldn’t mind the last 3 tracks to play at my funeral.Well overall I’ll forever adore this album for what it is.Thank you Damon x Jamie

The best Gorillaz album since Plastic Beach!
Hands down the best album since Plastic Beach. Every song is consistently fantastic and undoubtedly "gorillaz". This album is everything I wished Humanz would have been plus more. That isn't to say Humanz was bad, it was just different and left me feeling less like I heard a new Gorillaz album and more like I heard a Gorillaz curated playlist. The Now Now is completely different in that regard, truly feeling like a 100% bonafide Gorillaz album. It is somber, melancholy and peaceful, which may be a turn off for some. I thought it was superb though, and it has definitely cemented itself as one of the top three Gorillaz albums ever in my books. My biggest complaint is that I wish the album was longer! With a playtime of only 40 minutes, each time I listen to the album I feel like it is ending way too soon. One thing I also don't like a whole lot is the song "Hollywood". It feels like a track that would have been more at-home on Humanz than here. Likewise, I wish the single "Sleeping Powder" would have seen a full release on this album since that song is an absolute banger and would have fit right in. At the end of the day though, this is still an awesome album from one of my favorite bands of all time!

a wondrous journey
I was really impressed by gorillaz new cd. the cd started with the song humility with George benson. wow it was incredible. the blend of vocals and the mixing was incredible. never got bored listening to this track. the next track was tranz and was really done well. the next track was Hollywood with snoop dogg and Jamie principle. they did an exceptional job teaming up with gorrilaz. their vocals blended well together like they been singing together for years. the next track is Kansas which was really a great song and goes well with this cd. the following tracks socererz, Idaho, lake zurick ,magic city, fire flies, one percent and souk eye rounded off the cd. for an album that followed the cd humanz so quickly was well done. you will not be disappointed what so ever. the lack of collaborators did not hurt them. you really got to hear more of damon albam on this cd then you normally would if he had other artist appearing on this cd. damon is really a great singer and getting to just listen to him was worth the price of this cd.

Great album, great condition
Out of every CD I've ordered on amazon recently only the 3 Gorillaz albums I've gotten have arrived without issue. Every other cd has had some kind of case issue with cracks, or scratches, or just being dirty, or basically being broken entirely. Maybe I've just gotten lucky but the Gorillaz CDs seem to be taken care of much better.Great album! Rather than the storytelling mostly coming from music videos or other external sources like it usually does with Gorillaz, a decent amount comes from the songs themselves, many of which seem to reflect 2D's emotional progression throughout the phase. Because of this it ends up feeling like one of the most cohesive Gorillaz albums, it flows very well.

Gorillaz never disappoint!
Been a gorillaz fan from the start. So all the way back from 2001. First song I've ever heard was Clint Eastwood instant favorite. The now now is a good album it's a step in the right direction for them. The humanz album was a little lack luster, although there where some good hits. But more misses than anything. The now now is much better because there are way less guest stars. Though this album is a bit short, it does have more likeable tunes. My favorite has to be hands down Magic city, humility, lake Zurich, Idaho and soul eye. I also like the fact that this album focuses more on 2D and the others which is a bonus.
