A good solid paddle made by Selkirk at a price that's a bit more suited toward a beginner.
Selkirk has to be one of the most popular names in Pickleball and one reason is the quality of their paddles. They're solid and play well for both beginners and experts. You can count on the paddle to have a lot of pop and they are fun to play with. This SLK paddle is made by Selkirk and has what I believe to be some of the same great features of Selkirk at a price point more suited toward the beginner. This paddle has a gritty paddle face and comfortable grip. The grip is almost 5" long so if you like a 2 handed back hand there should be plenty of room for that provided you don't have bigger than normal hands. A great balance of power and control. The sweet spot is of ample size and should suit most players. If there's anything to complain about that is the fact that there are other paddles of equal quality for a similar or lower price. You really are paying for the name. But that doesn't take away from the quality of this paddle. This is a fine paddle that plays well and looks good!

A Solid Paddle, But Not a Huge Leap from Budget Options
I’ve been using the 2025 SLK Nexus pickleball paddle for a few weeks now, and while it’s a decent paddle, I didn’t feel it was a massive upgrade over some of the more affordable options I’ve tried. The SpinFlex surface does add a bit of extra spin to my serves, which helped me place the ball more precisely during a few tight matches. However, the overall feel and performance didn’t blow me away compared to my older, cheaper paddle. The graphite face and polymer core do provide good consistency, but I expected a more noticeable difference given the price. If you’re looking for a reliable paddle, it’s a good choice, but don’t expect it to completely transform your game.

Great Paddle for an intermediate user.
Where do I start?I am not the best pickleball-er out there but I have been fortunate to use a few rackets and while my daily driver is a Selkirk, I do think this one came close to replacing it.It has great grip and texture, right off the bat, it's pretty good for when you need to power down on a shot and need greater control. It's a good weight and I think a beginner or intermediate player would be pretty happy with it.Not to mention it looks great and has a good heft of power to it.

Big step up from a starter paddle
I've been using a starter paddle that came in a set of 4. This is definitely an upgrade. The grip is a little shorter than my starter paddle, but it is much more grippy. The face is longer than my starter pale, and has a texture to allow more control and spin on the ball. The edge bumpers feel well-attached. It is lighter than my starter paddle. I see this as a step up for a recreational player like myself who plays frequently, but isn't looking to win competitive tournaments. It's a big step up in quality over a starter set, but I imagine the improvements to step up to a professional paddle beyond this a would be more incremental.

SLK 2025 beginner / intermediate quality pickleball paddle
You get three choices in color schemes and I chose the one with the red highlights on the face. The edge guard here is quality, as is the handle, the paddle face and every aspect speaks to SELKIRK reliability. This is the 2025 Nexus Max model and I recommend it for beginners and intermediate level players. The price is budget-friendly to just about every wallet, and the 13 mm slimmer thickness than a lot of paddles gives you more pop and power because you can move the paddle through the air quicker because of the lighter weight.I played with this paddle and it is very reliable. That's what you want with a paddle, reliability. Hit 10 shots the same way and you want those 10 shots to perform the same way, and this paddle is consistent. The 4.25 inch grip circumference is a medium size, so if you have small to medium sized hands that's perfect.I've been playing pickleball since long before pickleball was a thing and I love that beginners these days can afford a really quality paddle like this without breaking the bank. Back in the Day paddle construction was hit or miss, and this is definitely a quality paddle.

Solid Paddle… Wide... Big Sweet Spot… Great Feel
Liking this paddle a lot so far… It’s a bit wider than some of my other paddles, and I really like that… gives you a nice big sweet spot, which makes shots feel more consistent… Haven’t noticed any dead spots, which is a huge plus… The surface texture is a nice touch too… adds just enough grip to help with controlled hits and spin without feeling too rough… It’s lightweight but still has a solid feel… really easy to maneuver at the net… and the grip is comfortable, even after longer play sessions…I have several Selkirk paddles, and have been really pleased with everything from them so far… They always deliver quality… and this one is no exception… If you’re looking for a well-balanced paddle with a great sweet spot and solid control, I’d definitely recommend this one!
