This was a Christmas gift for my husband who loves the base game. This is another good expansion that’s adds some new elements to the game.

Great game-for-2 expansion for Rivals for Catan
My husband and I love playing games and the original Catan is one of our favorites, but of course, we can't play alone with just the two of us. Coming across Rivals for Catan was so exciting and has brought us hours of fun! So obviously, we were excited to find out that there are several expansion packs. This expansion, "Age of Darkness", has not failed to extract lots more enjoyment out of the original game. Some of the cards are a bit quirky, but that just adds to the overall fun and unpredictability of the game.

Adds to base game.
Nice addition to the 2 player version of Catan. Adds more variety with more themes. Adds a couple of new card abilities. Its also small and compact enough to fit in original box for easy travel.

Great expansion for increased variety.
In this expansion (note: NOT extension for more players), there are all new focuses and intentions -- for example, in the age of the barbarians, you need to focus on having more "units" than city points... with these interesting new challenges, we find that we are never bored playing Rivals for Catan. We will be buying more expansions!

Perfect for Catan play when you don't have a crowd
This game is awesome! My husband and I love to play Catan but since you need 3-4 players we can't play it without having people over every time. The 2 player card game fits the bill perfectly. It allows us to play the game we love whenever we want.

If you love Catan but can't always get enough people together to play it, then Rivals for Catan is your answer. The Age of Darkness Expansion adds more variety to the base game. When you really want to play Catan and only have two people you'll be glad you had this game.
