Q: Is there a difference in the fudge leather and the brown leather? is one thicker?

The dark brown leather looks identical to the dark brown on the razorbacks and that is a more traditional leather you would polish. The fudge leather on the African ranger is like a nubuk, all I've done with it is use saddlesoap.

Q: Do these boots have the same or similar fit to the Jim Green vellies? Can I buy these boots in the same size of the vellies?

I bought both in the same size and they fit great. The Ranger boots are the best boot I own and I own a bunch.

Q: Ranger with NO cap-toe?

No. The 'African Ranger' model of Jim Green boots all have a "cap toes". It's essentially a 2nd layer of it's full-grain (2.2mm?) leather. ... but if you're concerned about it's looks, read-on ... Because of it's wide toe-box (necessary for my feet), I was worried the toe-caps might make it look at least like a clumsy hiking boot or at worst like a 'clown-shoe'. But like a lot of features of this boot, they struck clever design balance between function vs. form by making the toe caps larger, bringing them up closer to the forefoot, and slightly curving it's stitching, so it delivers even more protection while not reminding anyone around me (so far) of either dress-boot decorations, clown-shoe caps or clumsy hiking-boots from most any angle except when looking straight down at them (your own POV). Choices in applying cleaner/conditioners and polish-pens (or even a Sharpie in a pinch) can make a big difference if you choose Brown or Black (Fudge is a bit trickier).
