Great value!
This is the least expensive DAC using the latest ESS ES9039MPRO chip. You can pay more for better quality components, nicer screen and user interface. But sonically, I found no difference. There is however a small but definite difference between this ESS based and AKM4499EX DACs. After auditioning both single AKM (SMSL D400 PRO), and dual AKM (Gustard A26), I find that I prefer the ESS for its neutral sound signature, clarity and speed, while never fatiguing.My unit did come with two loose screws, heard them rolling around inside the case. I know Loxjie is supposed to be lower end offering by the same company who owns SMSL, but it's silly a customer has to deal with this. Nonetheless, it was easy fix, I put some blue threadlocker on them and they are good to go. Took off one star for my labor.
