France, 1792 - the height of the French Revolution. In a remote part of western France, the counter-revolutionary aristocracy has forged an alliance with a terrifying Vampire Messiah, who promises to ‘eat the sun’ and unleash an army of vampires and night creatures to crush the revolution and enslave humanity. Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance.

Terrific, though not quite as engaging as the original Castlevania
I loved the 3 seasons of the original Castlevania series. This series is set around the time of the French Revolution with mostly new characters, though Alucard appears during the last few moments of the season. I liked the characters, though the runaway slave girl was annoying at times.

Flawed but great start and looking forward to more!
Castlevania Nocturne is a worthy successor to the previous series even if it is experiencing some growing pains. There’s a lot of plot packed into these eight episodes and while all of it is good, there isn’t quite enough time for all of it to sink in and let the audience really chew on it. The character relationships are probably where the pacing hits it the hardest, where it feels like certain characters didn’t have a chance to quite connect as they could have. It’s still very, very good, and the characters themselves are fantastic. Especially Olrox, who as far as I am concerned is Nocturne’s equivalent to Dracula and he is more than a worthy successor. He’s every bit as captivating as Dracula every moment he’s on screen and Zahn McClarnon’s performance absolutely plays a huge role in that. I cannot wait to see Olrox and Richter interact more in season 2 and whatever seasons may come after that! The slew of concept art and character sheets is also amazing, both as a resource for any fan artists and just to see how much care and attention was put into every single bit of character design or background element. Highly recommend for that alone if you’re fan of either series, but especially if you’re an artist yourself.Good luck to the team and looking forward to January when season 2 releases!

Excellent production
At first I was confused that this might be the first season of the original series but it is new. Very well done with links to the original story. Good pace. No nudity. Some adult situations. Good subtitles and English audio is easy to understand. Eight episodes on two discs. Lots of blood but it is a vampire story. Very well done and a good story.

This Spectacular Anime Series Continues!
I'm a massive fan of the first four-season Castlevania series, so I was absolutely elated when I heard Netflix would continue with a spinoff series based on Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night (arguably the two finest entries in the entire Castlevania video game franchise). Needless to say, Castlevania: Nocturne does not disappoint. The characters are memorable, the plot is intriguing, and the quality of the animation is of the very highest caliber. Can't wait for Season 2! For fans of the Castlevania games and lore, this is a must-watch.

Perfect !
Blu ray arrived in perfect condition. I own the previous 4 seasons of Castlevania and Nocturne does not disappoint as a continuation (follow up). Who would’ve thought that we’d have 5 seasons of a Castlevania show, as a lifelong fan of the series I am very pleased.
