I'm a chocoholic. But in light of the fact that many chocolates (even the organic ones) have unacceptably high levels of heavy metals. In the interest of not getting dementia, I made a commitment to use carob for my treats instead of dark chocolate. I also wanted something caffeine free--and enough indulgence in chocolate will keep me awake at night. As well, carob has fiber and chocolate does not.I mix the carob powder with sunflower butter or macadamia nut butter, any nut butter until it is gooey in texture. Then I add Allulose for a zero calorie sweeter. I add a little coconut flour, ground nuts optional. Add a little water until the mixture has the consistency of cookie dough. then, press the mixture into an 8 x 8 baking pan. Let it firm up a little more in the fridge. Cut to whatever size you like. These also freeze well and a single serving will thaw out in minutes. Guilt-free carob brownies.

I just can't believe how much this powder looks, smells and tastes like chocolate! I bought it cause I make my own dog food and treats and found a dog-friendly recipe for peanut butter swirled brownies using carob powder. They turned out so delicious! I didn't taste them but my dogs went crazy and scared them down. Plus the smell in my kitchen when these were in the oven was heavenly!! I also made some for the neighborhood dogs and they all gave them two paws up! 🤣 After searching on Amazon for carob powder, this brand was the cheapest and it's a good sized bag. Excellent deal!

I love to make "chocolate" treats for my pups, but obviously using real chocolate is a huge no-no.But carob is perfectly acceptable and not bad for your dogs at all, and easy to swap out "one for one" in any recipe that calls for Cocoa powder. It's finally milled, and looks a lot like Cocoa powder, but definitely has its own distinct taste.

Huge rip in the bag caused the powder to spill out all over the box also getting on other times!! Very disappointed!! Will not be buying this item again!

A product of Turkey this non-GMO carob powder contains no preservatives or additives and it is fresh and flavorful. If unfamiliar the flavor of carob is markedly different than cocoa powder. Describing the flavor is difficult because it tastes like nothing else but carob. The texture is fine and very similar to cocoa but unlike cocoa it is sweet. The flavor is rich and earthy with a note of lightly overcooked caramel that results in a product that is delicious in its own unique way.I like to make carob brownies but it can be used as a cocoa substitute in recipes, smoothies, etc. The bag is re-sealable but the powder can work its way into the seam so it may not seal properly. To optimize freshness for as long as possible it should be in an airtight container and kept in a cool dark place. To estimate shelf-life at the time of this review in April 2024 the Best By date is 18 months in the future but dates will vary.
