Simplicity!!!!
This thing not only is quiet, but it also does a great job. It was 35°f outside today & this thing kept 900sqft room at 80°f inside. I installed this for an elderly widow i know who doesnt have heat or ac in the addition on her home. Installing a traditional hvac system wasnt practical & she didn't want holes cut in the house. This unit was my solution. Price was a bit expensive up front, but it took little to no time to install it. She was absolutely thrilled with how well this unit does. It does so well, im purchasing one for my home to lower my heating & cooling cost. I would've gave it 10 stars if it was an option

Technically functional, but bad QA and unreliable service
Installed it in our upstairs room, and, bottom line: it does work. That's about all I can say for it that's good. The thing's a bear to install, with the adjuster screws used to keep it from cantilevering out of the window not being long enough for my window; that I could deal with, though, with some extra shims. But after about five months, I started hearing a really loud clattering noise when the compressor kicked on. That's outside Amazon's return window, so I reached out to Soleus, providing them full details and a video of the malfunction. They told me to take it up with Amazon, who sent me back to Soleus. Soleus proceeded to ignore me for several days and it took multiple pings to get anything out of them; finally I had to ask them for a physical address because it was getting close to time for You'll Receive Mail. Then they perked right up and told me to ship the whole air conditioner back at my expense. No troubleshooting, no repairs, just ship it right back and pay $200 for the privilege. I'm obviously not going to do that, because at that point I'm in for a third of what it cost in the first place and with the way they'd acted I'm not sure I'd even get a working replacement.I wouldn't give them a thin dime again. I know it's hard to find reverse-cycle window units, but keep looking.

Best AC I've invested in.
Easy installation. Nice fit. Very easy to operate. We'll worth the money. Looks great. Very energy efficient to run. Remote controlled. Air flow is absolutely perfect.

Works well with some caveats
Product works well in cooling my large upstairs room over my garage... but...1) Overly expensive, but the only unit I could find that was U shaped (so didn't have to worry about it falling on someone) and also offered heating.2) It does make a loud interior buzzing noise (which I assume is the fan hitting something).3) It came with two small mounting legs (which were too small for my install but on the parts list) and ONE longer mounting leg... ONE (not on parts list). So I had to use the two smaller ones and pad the unit with some Styrofoam to keep it tight and level on my window. Unsure why they would send ONE.

Disappointed, IT DOESN"T HEAT when temps are below freezing!
It is a great idea and works most of the time. When it falls below freezing it will not heat at all and throws a LO error meaning that temperature is to low to use it. Should read more closely before purchasing. If you live anywhere where it falls below freezing even for short periods, you will have to have a secondary heat source.

Heating function is REALLY loud and never stops until manually shut off.
I don't know how they got their noise specs, but so far, I have only used for heating, and it is terribly loud. We have vibration isolated every part of the unit, we have damped the vibration on the window sashes. We even had to damp vibration on the other window in the room and in the next room. This thing shakes THE WHOLE WALL. Once it gets going, it quiets down, but the first 5 minutes are terrifying. The thermostat apparently has no control to shut off either the heating or cooling.I think it does not make sense to mount a heatpump on a wood single pane window sash. The thin piece of glass transmits all the noise into the room.It does heat A LOT. We only used it for cooling one day, so far (got it in the fall).I wanted to like it, cuz I thought it was a great concept. It DOES leave the window pretty useful to look out of. When this one dies, I won't buy another one. Next time I will just do a ductless mini split and mount the noisy compressor outside a solid wall. Or buy a non heatpump saddle mount window AC without heater. But I loved the idea of a heater behind the window. Just too loud. I believe some engineering to isolate the internal components and to sound isolate the external body of the whole unit would make it a more civilized solution. We remove our cat, warm up the room for 2 hours before we go to bed, then turn the unit off all night. We have to pad the front of the unit, otherwise lots of cold air comes in through the chassis.

It Does Heat below 41 Degrees
I've bought the Soleusair 12.000 AC/Heater/Heat Pump to replace expensive to operate baseboard electric heaters in my living room which is fairly large and drafty. I had read all of the mixed at best and negative reviews on the unit but decide to take a chance as the Midea AC/Heater will turn itself off at 41 degrees. Have it up and running now and it is delivering modest heat while the outside temperature is in the thirties. It is definitely not a beast to install, does not shake the wall and is not overly noisy as some have reported. Also it does have a defrost cycle which seems to work.

Low window profile HVAC
This is a beast. Easy installation, low noise level. Keeps the garage warm in the winter. Great value for the money for a window unit.
