A great book
The book is very good at making the best use of practice time for focusing on techniques. I would suggest first mastering the individual techniques and then using this as a review to stay on top of those skills.

Chris Brooks is the best teacher out there!
I have read hundreds of instructional books and his books always set a challenge and creates a path to success. Chris teaches you the best way to practice and most importantly with his teachings I have learned to self assess. If I struggle with a certain passage I can examine what is wrong: tension, picking direction, timing. Every book I have read from Chris always teaches me something new. If you are new to guitar, then you are lucky to have found his book early on. You will see your fingers moving at speeds where you ask yourself, is that me playing that fast? Yes it is! Thanks Chris!!

Making significant progress
This book is excellent. Basically, you cover a topic for a week or longer if needed. I am finishing week 3 on alternating picking and changing strings using different picking techniques. When I went to review week one, my speed was considerably higher on those exercises by like 20 BPM. So, in 3 short weeks I have seen considerable improvement on my technique and speed. Looking forward to the advanced edition coming out in April. Thanks to Chris Brooks for another outstanding book.

Excellent instruction
What one needs for a bootcamp of guitar technique. Legato, sweep, and tapping nicely wrapped in 117 exercises, each with a recommended time to work per day. With tablature and notation and audio and 80 minutes of video, this is a can't miss for someone looking to up their guitar game to the next level.

A Built-In Practice Guide
If you're like me and have difficulty focusing on what's important to learn next during your practice sessions, GET THIS SERIES OF BOOKS!Having a plan for learning is critically important in order to make consistent progress and use time effectively. The 'How to Practice Guitar" series from Joseph Alexander fulfills the need very well and makes it a lot easier to put a practice plan together.I have several of his Lesson Guides. All of them are concise, clear and they cover all the stuff that you really need to know about guitar skills and techniques. If I want to focus for several weeks on general skills improvement, I'll incorporate one of the Guided Practice Routines books. If I feel the need to spruce up a specific technique or need to learn a new technique for a song I'm trying to learn, the Thirteen Week Guitar Technique Bootcamp series of books become a part of my daily routine.Great stuff.

Meh... nothing much here
If you are on the fence about buying this, don't, waste of money. It seems like a copied work book or something they put together for students. Hard to follow.
