Lone Wolf and Cub, TV Series, Collection 2

I ordered this DVD and the first DVD as well. They were either lost in transit or delivered to a wrong address. I notified Amazon of the situation. Happily, I recieved an apology email within hours and the merchandise the next day with no extra charge.These dvds, Lone Wolf and Cub, parts 1 and 2 are phenomenal.Even though the videos have a disclaimer at the beginning stating that because of the age of the video the image and the sound may have suffered from transfer, I found no loss of sound, subtitles, or image. There is no fading or distortion of the picture and the japanese is crisp and clear. The subtitles are accurate clearly shown without the disruption of the picture that can sometimes be seen in foreign films. You see the whole picture, the subtitle does not cut off any part of it.If you enjoy Japanese martial arts films that are more realistic (without the flying wires and fire balls), with well written stories, excellent acting, then whether you are familiar with Lone Wolf and Cub or not, I can almost guarantee you will enjoy these dvds.

I have been waiting years to buy the end of this great series-My Dad took me to go see "Shogun's Assassin" in the theater when I was 6(believe it or not) and I have been hooked on ninja, samurai and martial arts ever since-I have all of the manga books and movies ever made on Lone Wolf and Cub and was only missing the rest of this great tv series-Very pleased indeed

It's the story of Itto Ogami so of course it's the very best source material. And the strength is the plot/drama. Some of the characterizations are off - Retsudo is played/scripted as a wicked but shallow character (mostly one-dimensional) - at deviance with the nuanced and insightful character from the manga. Biggest disappointment is the generally low level of swordsmanship and style one might expect of master swordsmen. Still well worth a look, however, and the price is a steal.

Very entertaining

I've been searching for this collection for some time. It isn't as gory as the movies but the series is still solid.Highly recommended for fans of samurai westerns.

This is perhaps my favorite of all samurai movies and TV shows.Great sword play. And wonderful storyline
