Really great product
Great piece of wood, really nice shape and size. Arrived promptly and well packaged. The only annoying part is that no matter how long you soak it for it will still turn your water brown/yellow, I'm sure this will clear given a couple of months of water changes, however after two weeks of soaking then placing in the tank the water has still turned yellow. This product is of great quality and would definitely recommend as long as you don't mind yellow water for awhile.

Good size, very unique/interesting contours and colours. Make sure is soaked to remove tannin.
I bought the small size but am really pleased that it is still substantial. The colour is and shape is variable and interesting so I will be able to alter the contours of the display in my aquarium.I’m in the process of boiling and soaking to remove the tannin but can’t wait to put it in a tank.I’m very pleased with the item - great value for money. 😃

It needs a soak!
Lovely looking shape and nice wood, fish were intrigued and use it to hide behind. As other reviews have said it needs soaking, and soaking. I rinsed it several times for a couple of hrs each. Still my lovely clear tank went yellow. I've removed it, done partial water changes to get tank back up to a nice clear colour. Still soaking the wood every day in my little sink and still the water is yellow. It won't go back in for a good while yet but when it does, I know it will look good.

Wood it's self looks nice but, in the description it states that the wood have already ready been soaked in water and most of the Tannis removed, well after 2 months of further soaking in a bucket I am still getting lots of Tannis releasing so still not able to put this in my tank. Avoid if you are in patient.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING!
Yes, natural wood products will almost ALWAYS leach tannins when first introduced to water, these are in NO WAY harmful, can be beneficial, are often preferred by fish as it’s closer to a natural environment. That said, the process can be long but more intense in the first week so if you hate the sight of tea stained water (varying degrees of shade will be determined by size of wood v’s volume of water), completely submerge the piece in a tub/bucket for that first week, changing the water every couple of days before placing in your tank, no need to waste money boiling it, you may accelerate the process but it seems extreme to me. The white fuzz/slime is a product of the completely natural and unavoidable start of the decaying process - this is an organic product, that’s how the world works! It won’t harm your fish and bacteria will develop in the tank to break this down but will take 2-3 weeks, if you hate it, take it out, scrub with a clean new dish brush, rinse and replace - this may need repeating but will go on its own it you leave it. PLEASE do not have a panic attack and empty and scrub your tank - that will invariably kill your fish as you will destroy the nitrifying bacteria that are keeping them alive! This is a fabulous product if you know what you’re doing!

DANGEROUS TOXIC PRODUCT ! IT WILL TURN YOUR WATER YELLOW BROWN, NOT SUITABLE FOR AQUARIUM !
I will start by saying that the piece of mopani wood we received was pretty looking and in a good size but we were in for a surprise! I was quite shocked to see that my aquarium water changed yellow brown within a few hours after adding it into the fish tank, although i washed the wood for several minutes before putting in. Oh well, I wish i read all the reviews here! This product is toxic. I changed the water partially in my fish tank, it made no difference, the water was still dirty and yellow brown. The second day the water was still terribly yellow so I removed the piece of wood from the tank because I was worry for my fishes safety. I boiled the wood for half an hour, then I decided it was too risky and pointless. I read that other people boiled their wood for weeks without any good results. At the end, I had to do another water change of the fish tank to make sure my fishes had some clear water again. The water, after all this work (and with the piece of wood removed) still looked yellow! I have a power filter that works great in my fish tank and it could not cope with all the mess this piece of wood had caused. Who knows how long before the water will go back fully clear again. My husband and I cannot believe this product is still sold to use in aquariums after all the negative reviews and complaints on Amazon. Please do not buy this product, unless you like yellow brown toxic water in your fish tank for months!

I got what I ordered
I like this. Actually surprisingly happy after reading some reviews. If you do your research before buying. You'll know to boil and soak it before adding to a fish tank. We boiled it over a day and left it to soak over night. Ours is heavy so no issues with the log floating. No amount of soaking will stop it turning the water a different colour. But for our fish this is beneficial as it matches their natural habitat. Its a lovely addition to the tank. Offers more surface for algea to grow for the bottom feeders and hiding spaces for them all. Its a decent size and yeh all good.

Great piece
Needed some more wood as a centerpiece with some other bits, ironically, its shaped almost identicle to a piece i already have! Which i think i ordered from here some yearsback... amusing, and will add a nice symmetrical taste to the tank when i lay it out.Was delivered about 4pm, poured around 7 kennels worth of boiling water over it between 4-8, gave it a good scrub. Came off bright red first two times and then ran clear. Rinsed it with cold water and by 9 it was in the tank, sunk to the bottom with only the tiniest amount of buoyancy on the side with less weight, which settled after a day. Lovely piece, will be ordering a large piece next!
