Buy this and use it.
I had a natural birth at a birthing center so I knew I was going to be on my own for pain management. I was afraid of tearing so I bought this in preparation. I used for 10 min a day starting at week 34. I gave birth at week 39.3, so used it for a total of 5.5 weeks. Using it was uncomfortable at first, not necessarily painful just uncomfortable. You control the pressure so you don't need to start out at a 10 on the pressure scale. It was not my favorite thing to do for the first 2-3 weeks, but it continued to get better. The last 2 weeks there was no discomfort and I was able to use as much pressure as I could muster.THANK GOD I used this. It was my first pregnancy, but I had rapid labor -a total of 4.5 hours. I went from 5cm to 10cm dilation in less than 2 hours and pushing lasted maybe 30 min. Also, it ended up being a water birth, which apparently makes you more likely to tear, but I only needed one stitch.I very rarely write reviews, but I feel like this product saved me a lot of pain in labor and postpartum. The pushing phase felt not that bad, especially compared to contractions. I do not want to think of how bad pushing would have felt had I not used this. 10/10 recommend. Do yourself a favor and use it every day starting at 34 weeks or as close to then as possible. Set a timer, listen to music or audiobooks, and just do it. You will thank yourself.

Great quality
Fridamom, I love you. I wish I had gotten one of these for myself, but I got it as a “spicy” babyshower gift to my newlywed girlfriend. She loved the mirror and said it helped so much with her fear of tearing. It does Not come with the massage ointment, so be sure to grab some of that, too.Great for building confidence in your ability to stretch, and very functional for you to massage yourself or your partner to help. (For real, they should be helping.)Will be purchasing for myself for my next baby!

Helpful but could be more ergonomic
OK, so I got this massager to massage my perineum to reduce a chance of tearing during birth. Well, it is helpful. It can also be a bit uncomfortable as far as the handle, not being ergonomic enough. However, I do still find it more effective than using my own fingers.

Save your money.
The product is exactly what it says it is. Still ended up having to have an episiotomy though. First pregnancy so I bought this but only used it a few times. Before delivery I asked the doctor to please take care of my perineal and she did!! She did everything she could to make sure I didn’t tear or have to be cut but eventually due to my child’s position I ended up having to be cut (totally worth it and it didn’t hurt bc of the epidural). Even after the medication wore off, it still didn’t hurt. Just felt tight bc of the stitches. Which only lasted 2 weeks and I didn’t even notice because I was over the moon with my baby! Safe yourself the money and talk to your doctor to express your concerns. Also, just use the same method that got you pregnant to begin with… more fun that way! :)

I DIDNT TEAR!
I got this and a birthing ball, along with doing all the exercises. I started doing the massage around 36 weeks pregnant, slowly eases into it doing it more each week. Gave birth the day I turned at 39 weeks and didn't tear! I got this and was doing exercises as well to loosen my pelvic floor muscles because I was scared to death of tearing myself a new hole as one might say. I got horror stories from many women in my life. I think this was definitely worth doing it and I recommend it to any mom! The exercises might of been a big part of me not tearing as well, definitely recommend using coconut butter with this for some natural lube to make it more comfortable and more suitable to stretch.
