Very black
Very, very black! Good pencil, very durable: I've used two of these now, and the lead has only snapped twice during sharpening. This is the blackest pencil I have ever come across, so dark it easily rivals charcoal. BE WARNED: it doesn't rub out, so any mark you make is permanent. Also, I does not layer very well, meaning you would have difficulty trying to use it to add darker tone to an existing graphite layer.When you know how to handle it, very good!

Black as night!
If you want a pencil darker than the far recesses of Caravaggio's mind, then this is the one for you. Super creamy (to be expected) so you'll need to sharpen it frequently. For me, it's perfect for the finishing touches on a graphite drawing - bits like pupils, nostrils and the corners of my subjects mouth. Every graphite artist should have one of these in their art box.
