Slicer!
does what it says on the tin. looks exactly like it does on the photo. Its easy to use and has usefull thickness variants and 2 different blades. the handguard works well too and allows for most of the veg to get chopped.

Ouch Ouch Ouch - Super sharp but very easy to slip
Ouch ouch ouch. I am a competent cook. I rarely slip with a knife, however this is so sharp, and it's quite easy to slip. The grip of the vegetable holder has barely enough of a handle to get a good grip, and on the second time of using a very large slice of my little finger ended up in the ratatouille when the gripper slipped (and I pondered on visiting A&E). For once I wish I had taken the suggested 'buy this as well' and bought the microplane safe glove as well. All in all, a very simple implement, and very compact to store. This is a no nonsense, 1970s style gadget that does exactly what it says on the rather naff and basic packaging.Buy and use with caution, but I'm not sure other similar items would be any different.

Fit for Purpose
Blade is fine and it is nice and small. Some veg would be too large to cut on it in one go (butternut squash or very large potatoes for example)Once you have unpacked it once it doesn't really fit back in its original packet properly which is just a bit irritating (stuff arrives neatly taped to the underneath). The finger guard thing is clumsy.

I have used it for a week and as far as I concerned it is love at first use
Being a vegan this tool takes the hard work out of food preparation. I have used it for a week and as far as I concerned it is love at first use. The packaging has all the information in Japanese and English with pictures and photos of samples. I would say that it is foolproof. What you should know is that it only cuts hard vegetables. When I tried to slice my not-so-hard tomatoes it didn't end up well. Next day I tried to slice my new batch of tomatoes that was hard and the result was very nice.

great
Slices really fine. Makes excellent crisps for my wife's slimming world diet. Easy to use, very sharp so watch your fingers

Does not slice evenly.
I agree that it has a sharp blade. But was disappointed to find that due to the fact that the hinge on the adjustment is not in line with the angle of the blade, it does not produce slices evenly. One side is thicker than the other. The whole reason for a mandolin is for finishing up with even slices.

Simple and effective
Looked at various options and decided I didn't want something to take up too much space, be too complicated to use or tricky to clean.I was slightly put off by the cheapish, plastic appearance, but as it's going to live in a cupboard, decided to get one, having read many favourable reviews.Very, very effective - and scarily sharp. Seriously, this would very easily take the top of a finger off if used without due care, and I certainly wouldn't let a child use it.My only gripe is the variation in slice thickness. The thinnest setting is pretty much of no practical use - it skims/scrapes without delivering a usable slice. The thickest possible slice is what I'd imagine a thin/medium slice to be... a greater thickness range would be more useful.
