This is an oil additive product. Not made as a substitute for engine oil. Container directions will state ratio of engine oil used to this product.

Q: Can it be used only at break in, then use synthetic oil.

I drive an 1975 Original Mini Cooper so the valve train requires zinc in the oil, which is the reason I use it. Most modern oils have little or no zinc due to emissions requirements. So, I don't use it for break in, and I can't really comment. Probably not very helpful. Sorry.

Q: Can i use this on a 1998 ford expedtion (5.4l v8)? is there a risk of damaging the catalytic converter?

Yes you can use this product with no concerns about the converter because it is only affected by exhaust. Hope this helps
