Product I easy to connect to hdmi device ,then connect your sources to the converter.Used it for a projector , that didn't have its own optical digital port for audio.Really worked right out of box.I would recommend a digital audio cable to connect to your sound system as cable is only small. But not a issue. Worth the money,if need another one in future.i will definaly purchase another one .Didn't hear any sound issues using device or distortions so very happy .I have purchased a digital optical for this product. And will be in my reviews as that product worked really well and good price to.

Used this to connect my old Bose system with Sky Puc. Picture quality and sound maintained.

What a crappy little product. For someone that knows a thing or two about audio products and tv products this is just not good enough. Using many devices to test this one such as amazon fire stick 4k, sky box 4k and sky puck 4k this adaptor doesn't output in 4k as stated it drops it to 1080p on any device I used using hdmi 2.1 cables. The audio worked from the sky puck as there is no optical output and I've had enough of lip sync issue thinking this would solve it however there is no delay but it's all stereo no 5.1, I've changed all settings on the puck to try and rectify this however the adaptor just doesn't do it even though they say it does. And to top it all off there must be some encoding hiccup because some movies from the fire stick says it cannot play on this device meaning it cannot send it through the adaptor and the sky puck has no chance, bought it for the movies and can't play any comes up with same error message that it cannot be played on this device. What a load of a crap don't buy save yourself the hassle.

While it does include all the cables needed, you'll need a USB A power supply of a reasonable quality. Frustratingly they use a USB A to round DC plug for power. That means a unique cable just for this device that nothing else has. If the cable fails or is lost then you're stuffed. The should be using USB C for power! Absolutely no reason they can't.It is supplied with an HDMI cable and optic cable. The HDMI cable is thin and doesn't have the feel I associate with 4k HDMI cables. The cable isn't very long either, so you may want to consider getting a better quality cable.Playback works, but I suspect it greatly depends upon the device and standards it tries to negotiate for HDCP. You may find some combinations fail when this is shoved into the path. In my use case I'm not using it for HDCP protected content so it wasn't an issue.I'm only using it with a stereo soundbar, so can't comment if it supports other speaker configurations. However there are no configuration options, so I'd say there is a high chance it supports stereo only.
