I can see how it can give you an extra layer of protection.
It is of great quality materials but the thumb is a bit uncomfortable. I love it but wish the thumb area was made of good quality leather or adjusted to be a little more comfortable. It will get the job done though so I bought the left and right because I liked the first so much.
