Excellent book, full of valuable insights with a very structured approach.
After the first read I can safely say it's hard to find a better book than this one to be successful in your new role.It covers a large spectrum of essential topics , keeping a very understandable, structured approach to understand what it takes to be best in class in your new role, in efficient manner. All resources are provided to put in application immediately what is originally developed in the book.It is so rich in providing solid methodology that keeping it with you all the time is not an option, it's a requirement, a duty. An absolute must-have!

Interesting, thorough and practical
Interesting, thorough and practical book about how to thrive in your first 90 days as a leader, whether you’re joining a new organisation or have been promoted from within.Gave me some good food for thought as well as practical exercises to do and actions to take in relation to my own situation.Likely to be one of those books you’ll need to refer to again for your next transition.

Sometimes it's not impostor syndrome
About 5% of the leaders who seek help from me about imposter syndrome, don't have imposter syndrome at all. They are really lacking the skill of starting a new role.Because good leadership is often considered a 'natural talent', wrongly I might add, these leaders think it's just them, that they're not a good enough leader. It causes huge stress and holds them back from stellar careers. For these leaders, I always recommend 'The First 90 Days' because the book's implicit message is 'leadership is a skill'. I'm grateful for that. But more importantly, Michael Watkins lays out a framework and a strategy for excellence in a leadership transition. Even 'soft skills' like company cutlure and politics.Fabulous book, and if you're starting a new role, read it now.

Must read
Excellent book that goes into great detail and really helps you to guide you through your first 90 days. It is not an 'easy' read but what do you expect from a HBR title ? I have recommended it to a few and they are also very pleased with it

Useful Aide Memoire
If you're moving up the career ladder - either through internal promotion or by joining another company - then this book will serve as a useful guide as to how to make a good impact in those first few months.Reassuringly there was much in the book that I'd already considered doing during the first days in my new role. There was also much that I hadn't considered and will be putting into practice. In short, this book provides the tactics and strategy you need to make a good impression in your new job and to keep your focus on those things that are most important. It's a good read and well worth the investment.

Great but would have liked to have received all pages’
I bought mine in hard copy and it had about 20 pages substituted with pages from earlier in the book!

Food for thought,
Clearly written, even for those who do not read 'management studies', well reasoned, and in many places is well aware of the realities that face any Manager. Provides thoughtful and clear advice on how to plan an effective 'on boarding'. I also believe, and I am sure the author expects that executive level readers should clearly possess the ability to adapt the procedures , policies, plans and advice given to their own circumstances. However, I would also echo other reviewers, despite making some clear allowance for realities, this book is best suited to chief excecutives, rather than those limited to what they can change at middle management in 'legacy ridden' companies. Food for thought, but not quite the 'holy grail', its apparent belief that it is only detracts from its effectiveness.
