Easy to use
I purchased this dye to colour some wood which had a grey cast. I experimented first before jeopardising hours of work. The product claims to be a dye, I am unsure if this is true, I would say there is some quantity of pigment too. If only manufacturers stated the ingredients it would be possible to make better choices regarding dye or pigment. Anyway, putting that gripe to one side, the product is very easy to use and gives uniform coverage with no visible blotching on hardwood. I achieved a nice finish using the dye and liming wax but I wasn’t happy with the colour. Unfortunately I was unable to find this product in a wide range of colours so I didn’t use the product on my finished project. I was able to achieve an excellent finish using this product and I would happily use this product. Shame the colour options are so limited, as it’s very easy to use and for the most part it doesn’t obscure the grain.

Poor performance after application
I stained the fire surround 5 days ago. It does stain nicely, but after wiping the hearth down with nothing more than a damp cloth, the stain rubbed off. Very poor adhesion and penetration. Won't be buying this again: useless waste of money.

Easy to use
I love this stuff. I have renovated a 1980s table and chairs and several smaller items of furniture. The advantage over paint is you get more texture from the wood grain. I then just matt varnish to protect it

Ebony isn't black
Ebony, while a very dark wood, is not black but a very dark brown. I know this because I have several pieces made of it from Africa. This dye is black. It covers quite well and if you're going over a dark wood it doesn't completely obliterate what's underneath so you can get away with the darkness, but don't buy if you're after something that's actually ebony coloured.

very dark but with wax finish shows grain very nicely . . . .

Brilliant
I needed to dye wood and the water soluble Liberon range is the obvious choice. I wanted Ebony which is obviously not currently "fashionable" in the local DIY stores so I bought some cans via Amazon. The big bonus was also that I got them at a far better price than that charged by the large retail DIY stores that stock the range.

Perfect
Not a lot to say about this product.Does exactly what it says, colour is great, a little dark for my liking, but easily sanded back, and it can be watered down to suit as it's water based.

Lovely Finish
Excellent product. Applied with sponge brush rather than bristles for a lovely finish. My interior doors look lovely now.
