Excellent sweets
These sweets are very good, some small and some big, you can just crack the big ones up into smaller pieces, flavours are nice and taste the same as the old corner shop style ones. At 3.4kg its huge and today's pricing i think it represents good value, i can see these lasting a month or two.

The best boiled sweets ever.
I had a few concerns before purchasing this item. Would they taste as good as I remember from the 70s? Would they keep for long enough for me to enjoy them before spoiling? Would they be full of E numbers etc? I am delighted to report that they taste exactly as they did four decades ago, the use by date on my jar had a month short of two years on it and there are absolutely no artificial colours or preservatives! There is plenty of variety in this jar: pear drops, flavoured rock, kola kubes, cherry fish, mint pyramids and a vast assortment of flavours - lime, lemon, orange, strawberry, cherry, blackcurrant, pear, mint, aniseed and others. Great for all ages and after opening the jar several months ago, they still taste as fresh as the day they were opened. If you enjoyed these years ago you will not be disappointed. If you haven't tried them yet I can appreciate the price may initially seem a little expensive but believe me this is a generously filled jar and will last you a very long time.

lots of perfect
2nd time buying these. How excited was I after opening these perfectly sealed sweeties. firstly i should say I have a stomach issues that stops eating most things except plain bland unexciting food. On opening I discovered so many different and better flavoured sweets that were not in the first, as a clearly easily pleased person, I think this is well worth the money.

Super fast delivery
Super fast delivery, especially impressed as I ordered this item close to christmas. A huge sized jar so great value for money, and the traditional mix of boiled sweets were as tasty as I remembered them. I dropped one star, as there were far to many pear drops in the mix (approx a third of the jar), ok if you like them, but as this was a gift for my husband he left at least a third of the jar. This item would have got 5 stars if it hadn't been for this.

The fruitiest, tastiest boiled sweets.
Some Yorkshire Mixtures are pretty but just taste of boiled sugar, no actual flavour and every sweet tastes the same with no or very little distinction between the pear drop and the fruit rock.....if this has been your experience then welcome to the world of Maxons, the fruitiest, tastiest boiled sweets you will ever taste. These sweets are a good mixture of pear drops, fishes, fruit rock, mints etc. all tasting delicious.I first bought these for my husband in a little traditional sweet shop in Lancaster and he absolutely loved them, unfortunately so did the rest of the family and they disappeared quickly, I couldn't find them locally so turned to Amazon and now buy them by the jar. Try them, you won't be disappointed.

Long Date
Brought these to use as my wedding favours. brought a few months in advance ready to make, was a little unsure if the use by date would be okay, but there was over a year on them so i didn't need to be worried. tried and tested by my parents and no complaints on taste

and it's a great variety. Every visitor that pops round can't resist ...
I get a jar of these every year for my husband for Xmas. They last ages because there's a lot in there, and it's a great variety. Every visitor that pops round can't resist having one. They look really attractive and even I have the odd one, although I'm not a sweet eater at all. Makes an excellent present. Very good value for money too, with 119 ounces in the jar at 20 quid that's about 64p a quarter.

Not happy about the packing they arrived crushed and with lots of crumbles!
Sweets looks great and I am sure they are delicious. I am giving them 3 stars because packing was so badly done, nothing to pad them inside the box so they moved inside the box and ended up arriving crushed and with lots of crumbles... not happy as I am using them for a party.
