Habitrail OVO Dwarf Hamster/ Mouse Habitat Cage

I bought this for a hamster that was constantly chewing the bars and wanting to get out. It loved this addition and the very day i assembled it the hamster made itself a bed in the top pod, it enjoyed running up and down the tubes. It improved it's quality of life. However ( and this is not a fault of the item) I put some food in the bottom pod and didn't close it properly. The hamster escaped and sadly we never saw it again.( that was around 8 months ago.) It was completely my fault and could happen with any cage, but just a warning to be very vigilant, clip it shut, it's easily done and I was quite upset by it. But a very good product, durable, thick plastic, excellent fittings that clip it all together. I recommend it. Just don't do what I did.

Habitrail is the best and safest cage for any dwarf hamsters, ideal for Russian and robo’s I have changed the setup from 2 types of habitrails but I like to change it up every now and then do the hamsters don’t get board 😂 so easy to clean can put on a quick cycle in a dishwasher on a low heat while they are in the balls to run around or you can wash by hands. It’s a shame that these are no longer in pet stores and can only get online and no longer have a wide range. They also do ones for the larger hamster don’t know how well they are as I’ve only had dwarfs. Just a brilliant design all round and would recommend habitrail to anyone.Also cat safe as you can see from one photo ☺️

The media could not be loaded. I bought 2 of these for 2 dwarf Russian hamsters after reading they do not like living together. In the pet shop, the man told me they were sisters and very young so they should be ok. I therefore linked the cages as one big run when we got home. Their habitat is now huge and such fun. We have put chinchilla sand in one of the top domes for them to play in. One hamster gets up the vertical tubes with ease and the other finds it hard and it takes a good few tries for her. This is good though I’m sure. They can’t access the steps for the food bowl as they are a weird, slippy steep angle. We put the food In the den ball at the end instead and they take it to their undercover den behind the wheel. So hard to set up. You need to get used to the way the connectors tighten. Water bottle hard to fill as the metal is too tight on the plastic. Will be an absolute pain to clean - a proper clean will basically be taking it apart and putting it back together when dry so a good half hour or more. Hamsters love it. One would be too small for 2 dwarf hamsters though IMO.

Amazing literally amazing. But I only realised this once it was set-up and the mice inside. Every part that annoys you in the set-up (first time) will become clear later when the mice are in. I hated putting it together. But then it made sense for cleaning. I hated the dips in the food bowl but the ledges collects poop and the dip wee, it all makes sense eventually. I love the easy of cleaning the food bowl and the water area. It is the best cage we have. But when I was putting it together (the first time) I was in tears. It looks like mission impossible and a tiny bit of plastic broke. I was livid. But I stuck with it AND do not regret!!!!!!! Love love love this cage. It comes to bits for emptying all the mice stuff out and goes in the bath to be deep cleaned, dried and placed back together.

I have given this an average rating as there are some things that are fantastic about it but some BIG warnings. First the warnings. I am a very long term responsible hamster owner and I bought this for my two robrowskis along with two lofts, a home edition and some extra dens. This is the minimum I would say you need for a pair of dwarves or even one to be honest. Although mine are given at least two hours free range playtime every evening they are still awake when you are asleep and the fact that this is sold as a complete dwarf hamster home, or worse still a Syrian as the Syrian equivalent is no bigger it just has larger tubes is cruel and should be illegal.Well in fact it is as this cage does not meet the uk minimum space requirements for a dwarf. However, if you thouroughly research it and go into it with your eyes open like I did, then combined with two lofts and a few add ons it makes a great, but expensive, cage for dwarves that you can add on to. My dwarves love it as they love running through tubes going mental. I would not recommend the Syrian version as they are not as quick, don't use the tubes as much and need more floor space so you are better off investing your money in a nice big cage with loads of floor space. I am good at putting things together but honestly the instructions were so hard to follow. Just useless diagrams. I worked it out from the picture in the end. Good points, it is safe for dwarves, well ventilated, easy to clean, you can keep changing the setup to maintain your hamsters interest, it is very hard for them to chew as it is all curved, nice deep bases for dwarves for burrowing, the water bottle does not leak unlike a lot of people have said providing you follow the instructions properly and refill it daily completely to the top then turn it over three times to cr rate a vacuum, see u tube videos. Overall a great cage, just far too small on its own. Do not be fooled by the pictures!

This is the cutest hamster cage ever! My first dwarf hamster and he absolutely loves this cage. He is so active and is constantly running around the tunnels. The adventure pack did not come with instructions but it was pretty straight forward- it is a simple click into place type of assembly. Great idea and great price!
