Q: Hello, I am a complete novice, despite being 30yrs old, therefore, need a kit to get me started. However, is it geared, completely, towards children?

I bought it for my granddaughter,. Lovely container with about 6 balls of wool plus needles. Ideal for beginners, however as wool isn't. expensive I suggest if you have a craft or wool shop in you area, you could get the wool and needles for a lot less. I think most of the cost covers the case! I bought a beginners knitting book which gives all the instructions and ideas, it was very useful as it was almost 20 years since I had held a pair of knitting needles, and we managed to knit a scarf and blanket for her doll's pram!

Q: Are the needles plastic or metal? Or is there a pair of each?

there are metal and plastic sewing needles . I think the knitting needles are bamboo -- 5 years since I bought this but I do know my granddaughter loved it !

Q: What type knitting patterns are included in the kit? Are the knitting needles chunky? Thanks!!

Simple to follow patterns for purse and such like -can't really remember details . Needles are not too fine -- given to 7 yr old granddaughter quite a long time ago .I just know she couldn't stop knitting and loved this gift .
