I am thrilled with this camera.
Before saving up to buy this I had a Nikon D90 and was always pleased with it however this one is fantastic in comparison. The camera has numerous settings to allow you to get exactly the photo you are aiming for. I am particularly impressed with quality of the finished photograph...the detail is unsurpassed in my experience. Its relatively lightweight which makes it easy to handle. The lenses fir well and lock securely. Live view is amazing and despite it having so many options to choose from its relatively simple to use. Obviously it has a raw setting which in my book is the preferable option if you want to work the photos in photoshop. I did note that a previous reviewer remarked on a red haze on the live view screen. Personally I would disagree however I do wonder if he/she had the filter settings set to red?All in all I am so pleased with this camera - it was worth the money and I know the quality of my photographs will be so much better.

Beware New Camera Products
The D610 is a stand out camera. I've been using one for almost ten years and, although a shutter unit had to be replaced under guarantee, the camera has been reliable. When mine died, I looked around for any D610 'new' bodies and discovered that Amazon still seemed to have some, mainly sold by Third Parties.Having bought one, I took a series of photos and realised that there was something very wrong with the quality of the image. I compared like-for-like with my old photos and found that the sensor was under-performing.Although it's possible that this has been boxed for numerous years and has only just recently been sent out for the first-time, there are other possibilities......therefore, if you do decide to buy a 'no longer made' D610, make sure you zoom in to the images (taken at best quality settings) to make sure that the quality is there. The big benefit of the D610 for me was that I could crop a photo and still retain the image quality to the eye. This review has been submitted at the request of the Amazon Customer Services Team.

amazing camera
Although the price tag is high, this camera worth every penny...the best being that it offers auto, scenes and 2 custom set up mode on the top of the basic P, S, A and M Mode. the finish quality of the product is simply representative of Nikon...well made, great grip, great ergonomic.the user manual is also very detailed and very helpful as this machine is definitely able to push boundaries of creative pictures and bring to professional level of shooting.

Stunning
Well it was expensive but it only took a handful of images to show just how good it is. Image quality is just incredible. I own Nikon & Canon APS-C SLRs & several compact system cameras but the D610 blows them away, especially at higher ISOs.It's beautifully built & packed full of features. If I had a tiny criticism (& its not really a criticism as such) its that it is much heavier than an entry-level DSLR. Reviews say (correctly) that it's light for a full frame SLR, but it still makes its presence felt around your neck. Compared to my D3300 its more of a chore to carry. But its worth it.Simply stunning.

... after comming off the Olympus OM series (a most fantastic 35mm camera) and
Well its my first dlsr after comming off the Olympus OM series (a most fantastic 35mm camera) and....its not point and shoot and its big and heavy (in comparison to the Olympus). The 24-85 mm lens has to be on F22 for the camera to work and even then selection of manual does not totally overide the camera which sometimes refuses to let me do the settings. The camera button is not quite in the right place for me (try before you buy) so i am often looking at the top of the camera to place my finger on the button and then start to re-look through the viewfinder. Its only my second week with this D610, and I have a lot to learn. Maybe its comming off something that was so easy to use (the Olympus). Anyway stuck with it so I will stick with it.I am sure this is a good camera but my experience shows you have to get use to the camera and its quite a jump from a 35 mm. Anyway in addition to the 24-85 mm bought a 70-200mm, 105mm and a R1C1 flash and vertical grip so I am determined to come good!
