Intel Core I3-7100 3.90 GHz CPU - Black

Used this CPU for a build I did for my uncle. He will mostly use it for general day to day browsing, but the kids will use it for moderate gaming. Mostly less demanding esports games. For this purpose it is perfect and being priced at sub £100 means it is right up there on the price/performance ratio.If you are looking to build a PC just for moderate gaming and day to day use, I would highly recommend buying this instead of splashing out on a more expensive CPU.Do not let the fact that this only has 2 cores make you overlook this CPU. The fact is the unless you are a heavy gamer, developer, or render videos and pictures on a daily basis, you most likely will not even be utalising more than two cores anyway. Best budget level CPU for older 100 and 200 series motherboards, score more than 5000, dual core with 4 threads, not so expensive, single core score brilliant. I would go for i3-8100 with no hesitation but the 300 series motherboards are still expensive as I bought H170 MB for 50 euros. Will probably wait some time and swap with 8000 series CPU's and 300 series motherboards in future but bear in mind that any CPU with score above 5000 on passmark will be excellent for Office use, Internet and everyday tasks, even with some games with some decent GPU card. I've seen new i5 CPU's on laptops performing with score around 4500 and still pretty much excellent in everyday tasks.Note: There is also much much cheaper version of Pentium G available with similar performance.

Excellent bangs per buck and runs Windows, Office and games very well and quietly - using the standard heatsink.Add a decent graphics card and it plays most games very well - OK not tried the very recently released games that would require another £2000 of hardware.

i was on a tight budget to upgrade from an a8 6600k from the AMD lineup this was a vast improvement i stuck a bequiet cooler and works like a charm with my r9 280x no bottle necking (i have a friend who has the same specks as me with the i3 6100 and this crushes it in games)120 fps ultra on dota90 fps medium on h1z1 king of the kill100 and above on csgo ultracompany of heroes is limed on 60 in game for some reasonkilling floor 2, left for dead 2, payday 2 all above 100 fps on ultra.my specs:i3-7100msi 991-7A74-002 PROhyper x 8gb 2400mhz (i would suggest maybe higher than 8gb as the cpu chomps ram)WD green1080p lg monitormsi r9 280x (not overclocked)

Works it's little socks off and with an aftermarket cooler maintains some brilliant temperatures. It's capable of slotting in nicely to both entry level gaming machines and media builds and holding it's own. A real solid i3 for those that don't want to tackle the world of overclocking.

Good cpu for the price. No problems with it.Comes with stock cooling, but i recommend buying a cooler for it, if you want to use it for gaming or editing.

Great processor for the price. Capable of 4k movies playback and would be good for gaming if paired with a decent graphics card.

Why buy this when you can buy the i3 8100 for the same price albeit the motherboard is more expensive.
