You can't fertilize your lawn with synthetic fertilizers as they are sodium based products which burn the grass due to the salt. Milorganite is basically feces and will not harm your lawn when used in the summer. I use this with alfalfa meal (rabbit food/iguana bedding @15lbs per 1000 ft) and have outstanding results in the summer. Make sure to water at least an inch after application (if it hasn't rained within a week) to help breakdown the fertilizers.
