They are good for both very bright colours

Q: how much do I need to add to get the deep pink ? can't get it deep and worried about adding too much colouring.

It would depend on how much buttercream, or fondant, or cake mix, you intended to colour, The more you want to colour the more dye you will need to colour, However the dye can change the taste of your buttercream, fondant, ect, So I always add little by little and keep tasting to check the taste hasn't changed, because then you know what your product tastes like, Hope this helps
