Alligare Imazapyr 2 SL-Compare to Arsenal Gallon

I've used this stuff a few different ways. It works well if mixed with the recommended amount of water plus a little dish soap. I don't know if dish soap is a requirement; that's just how I mixed it. I've sprayed that mixture on grasses, poison ivy, and other broad leaf species with great success, but it did not work well spayed on Chinese tallow. It works well applied full strength into cuts around the trunk bark of gum trees and Chinese tallow. I made several cuts just into the wood around the circumference of the trunk, but "ringing" the trunk should also work quite well. Utilizing several such notches only on one side of a 10" gum trunk left a few leaves alive here and there after several months, but all of those remaining leaves are heavily damaged. I've also painted it, full strength, to stumps of freshly cut trees with great success. However, I've gotten the best results by mixing it with kerosene and dish soap, and applied to fresh cut stumps, foliage, or cuts in trunk bark. Sprayed foliage will die, as well as everything beneath. This extra impressive mix is 10-20 parts herbicide,1 part carrier oil (kerosene, diesel, fuel oil, etc) and less than 1 part dish soap added to assist with emulsification of carrier oil and adherenceNo doubt, using it undiluted (or with just a tainting of a carrier oil) will "waste" a lot of this product. It is total overkill. However, after battling an infestation of tallow and gum trees off and on for years, I'd gotten tired of coming back to find tree trunks that had become a ring of new trees or to find entire root systems sprouting new trees. As far as I am concerned, overkill is exactly what these persistent, invasive trees require for eradication. If you are cutting trees down, just paint (or spray) the entire circumference where the bark joins to the wood and nothing will come back. I'm certain it would also work well diluted with a quantity of water (especially if adding carrier oil, though a larger quantity of dish soap may be needed), but I bought a gallon and am only trying to clear the large nuisance growth from a few acres of 35 year old pines. If it ever gets manageable, I'll get another gallon and spray the undergrowth too.Do not expect immediate results. Mixed as directed, it could take a week or more to see results on poison ivy or other broad leaf foliage. Mixed with a carrier oil results seem to come faster, but it is still not going to be immediate. Be patient. This stuff needs time to work its way through the entire plant. If you don't see results after a couple weeks, mix it a little stronger and reapply.

Outstanding control of unwanted weeds and grass. I have had good luck with the product and have not noticed significant migration to other areas, which is good. Takes about 5 days to kill weeds and grass, however it had been very wet in the last several weeks before application and I believe if the ground would have been more dry, it would have worked more quickly. I have used successfully on existing weeds/grass, also on bare ground to keep it bare, and on rocks where I did not want weeds growing and to keep some weeds already there. Excellent results in all locations. This is an expensive product but provides great results. I recommend a surfactant be added as directed, especially if using on existing weeds and grasses. Be sure to read the entire label (booklet) and follow the mixing proportions.
