Got here fast and works great for my cut off tool, no rust no problems to speak off. After I dulledit right out of the box, "did not set the right tool holder height on lathe" it only took about 5 seconds to resharpen on the bench grinder.

This was a good little tool. It long enough to give the machinist the versatility of being able to sharpen the tool and get many uses out of it. It's a good tool for the money.

Don't know about hard metals, but work mostly with aluminum, and it works great and can't be beat for the price.

First one came curved. Replacement parting tool came less curved. The HSS used is sub standard. It will cut aluminum and probably plastic but it dulls cutting mild steel and stainless steel. I sharpened it over a dozen times and used cutting oil when cutting but it was simply frustrating and a fair waste of my time. I even tried using different tool holders but to no avail. The lack of quality is very frustrating and it’s not even worth my time returning a second POS for what it cost. Just for reference I have had success sharpening other HSS parting tools but this one is garbage. I typically don’t write reviews but I’m hoping to save someone else the hassle I went through with this parting tool.
