I have been using this lock in my office desk for about two years now. I have been very happy with this purchase.Let me tell you why I chose this one. We use MacBook Pro for work. Many of my teammates were using the other locks where you have to stick a slot for the lock on the side of your MacBook. While that does the job, I feel it doesn't look good sticking out of the otherwise perfectly sleek MacBook body. I mean you don't buy a $2000 beautiful looking machine only to stick that piece of lock on the side. So that's how I ended up finding this lock and ordered it.The lock itself is very easy to install, will take you literally five minutes. I got the key version, because somehow I don't trust the number locks. Also, it is quicker to just insert the key and rotate it rather than trying to find the right combination every time I need to unlock it. One little gripe I have with it is that I cannot completely close the lid, and that's just the way this lock works. So I end up leaving it unlocked and close the lid while working on the desk with docking station. When I have to leave, I open the lid, slide the right flap and lock it up - this all takes like five seconds.The lock is sturdy and does its job. It also matches the color of the MacBook so that adds to the aesthetics. I would say go ahead and buy it if you are looking for a non-invasive lock that doesn't stick to your MacBook.

This is even better than I expected! The lock is secure and the mechanism itself is adjustable with the tool provided so it can be used on laptops of different sizes. The impact for me is that when researching at the library I can leave the laptop securely locked and feel confident that it will still be present and locked when I return rather than needing to tote it everywhere.There a couple of trade-offs though. This is not particularly lightweight but it is a very secure option for MacBook Pro up to a MacBook Pro 14. (I've used it successfully with a 2017 MacBook Pro 15 with no problem other than getting used to adjusting it to fit.)

My wife uses her laptop for school and couldn't study at home due to kids. There have been a lot of laptop thefts in our area and I wanted to make sure she doesn't have to experience that so I bought this for her.I opted for the key lock over the combination after reading the comments. It works pretty well and does what it is intended to do. I only gave this product 4 stars because the plastic hooks feel flimsy and cheap but does work. To lock the hook takes some time due to the cable being in the way of the lock. the stand sits very low to the table which also makes it tough to lock unless you put it on the side of the table.

The lock is very solid and substantial. Key works great. High quality construction. Precision fit. Easy to install. [I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch with touch bar, (A1707).] It is not the kind of lock you would want to carry around with you though. It is pretty heavy. Cable is thick would not be easily cut unless someone was walking around with a bolt cutter... I am happy with my purchase.

I initially purchased a simple Kensington lock with a T-bar, however, I did not realize that my MacBook (2015 MacBook with Retina Display, 13 inch) lacked the Kensington port. Instead, I purchased the locking station, and I find it to be an excellent solution. Out of the box, it must be adjusted using an Allen wrench in order to fit the size of the laptop on which it is being used, but it is easy to open and close. In summary, a very sturdy, excellent locking solution for my laptop.

So I tried one of those Maclocks things for my 12” MacBook retina - it was ok, but leaves the bottom exposed to scratches since it doesn’t come with a cover, and existing covers won’t work. Decided to try this one, and it’s obviously what I should have bought in the first place. I didn’t even have to adjust the sides - it fit perfectly. The only downside is it’s not a combination lock, and the keys are a bit clumsy, and the base is pretty heavy when I think they could make it somewhat lighter. One point of note since my MacBook is a different width to the MacBook Air is mine fit perfectly without adjustment, so how this fits the air I don’t know. Anyway, good solution for mine.

The lock is high quality and will certainly secure the laptop, however it's fiddly unlocking the cable with key (I expect the combination lock version would be easier).My main concern is that the way it holds the laptop creates a large risk of screen damage if any attempt is made to close the screen while locked. I cracked my MacBook screen using it, either my toddler tried to close it when I wasn't looking, or I did it trying to unlock the cable for the first time.
