Made from some sort of softwood, they're well put together. The roof is the same width as the sides, which would be useful for making a starling street, or for other birds that like nesting next to each other. I would prefer the roof to be a bit wider than the box, but for the price, they're a bargain.I bought the set of 4, with plans to modify them anyway, so they're almost perfect for me.

I added several screws to ensure these boxes did not fall apart. The small birds immediately showed an interest and have been roosting in them over the cold winter nights. Looking forward to see if they nest in them in the spring.

Perfect for small birds, simple, strong and sturdy, be nice if there was a perch but easily added my own with a drill and bit of dowling. A great buy

It has been a couple of years and no bird has ever come to roost in any of these, I have 4 places at different hights and locations hoping at least one will get occupied. The wood is light, cracks and weathers quickly, the entry hole is probably too narrow for anything to get in!Absolute waste of my money.
