This pump can be used continuously for 1 or 2 hours, it depends on the temperature. the safe way is to turn off and take a break after one or two hours of use, and do not let the pump get too hot! Q: Can I use this to transfer broth?

Yes，this Magnetic Drive Pump can transfer broth. But need you use a strainer to filter the broth residue before using this drive pump. At the same time, your broth must be non-viscous.

Q: Can this pump transfer cake batter?

doubt it. Cake batter would be too thick.

Q: Would this pump work to recirculate household hot water back to the hot water heater? Municipal system at 40-50 psi.

You could probably make it work, but you would definitely want a different pump for that. For one, this pump is not self-priming.
