This thing is great and I am super happy that I never have to keep buying new laser centering devices for each new cartridge I have (and all the dumb replacement batteries of all shapes and sizes); I want to address something that all the negative reviews were highlighting that initially worried me. Many of the negative reviews are quick to point out how the thing doesn't sit perfectly in the center of the bore, and while this is often true is it definitely not an issue at all. Most people notice this by the simple fact that that if they rotate the device in its position it will not hold the same zero. While this does mean that it isn't sitting centered we can actually use this super easily to find the perfect zero. If for some reason your boresighter isn't sitting centered here is what you can do to get the perfect zero:1. Put your firearm in a vice or set it up in a way that you know that it will not move and the the barrel is sitting in the same direction2. Select the right plastic back plate to the boresighter. Note that how tight you screw in the plastic back plate will change how tightly it fits the bore. This is simply because the tighter you screw it on the more the plastic back plate splays out. I have found that I can get the best fits by finding the labeled size that matches the caliber and testing it out with small changes in how tightly I screw it3. Push the boresighter all the way back into the barrel and have it sit as deep as possible, give it a little push a the end to ensure it is sitting flush4. Set up a piece of paper at any reasonable distance and rotate the boresighter to see where it lands on the paper. As you spin it around it will make a circle, use a pen to trace this circle and then make a dot in the center of this circle5. The dot that you make in the center of the circle is where your zero should go (notwithstanding gravity, ect...).The only thing that you need to ensure for this to work is that the plastic backplate is sitting as centered as possible and that is easy to do if you play with how much you tighten in. I doubt this tracing the rotation trick is what the manufacture intended but it works great if you don't mind doing it. It was incredibly annoying, expensive, and time consuming to find new centering devices for every new cartridge so this is massively welcomed even if a little elbow grease is needed. First, this is the finest Chineseum available. Don't expect fine Swiss craftsmanship.Second, you need to understand that this is intended to get you on paper at 25y. Don't go confusing "laser beam" for high precision accuracy.Third, if you can't troubleshoot small devices, stay away. People complain of units not working. I found the battery connection was a little flaky. Twist the two halves of the housing and it lights right up. Next, the plastic bushings aren't fragile, but they aren't meant to take abuse, either. Put the screw through the bushing from the stem end, until bottomed out. Thread the screw into the stem of the laser until the bushing just touches. It is intended to spread the bushing out as the screw draws the bushing onto the stem. It takes trial and error to learn how to adjust the bushing, then snug up the laser in the muzzle.When it's close to snug, project the laser on a wall and spin it in the barrel. If the light moves in a circle, the laser may need alignment. Use the Allen wrench provided, poke it through the label and adjust the laser by loosening one side (no more than 1/8th turn), then tighten the opposite side. Get the circle as small as possible when you spin the laser. Under 6" at 25 yards will easily get you on paper. Don't expect perfection.Be careful you don't pull the rubber cover off the power button while twisting the assembly.Don't over tighten the screw into the stem.Don't forget how cheap this thing is.I spent 20 min figuring it out, then another 20 minutes to get a basic 25yd zero on NINE guns.This is not the worst thing I ever bought on the internet.
