A Paris you want to visit from an insiders point of view.
SO happy with this purchase! I frequented a lot of the spots listed in The New Paris before I read the book but found so many new places I want to visit next time. Honestly, it is very thorough with GREAT writing and I was unexpectedly transported to the author's world. For any Francophile out there or for someone who wants a beautiful coffee table book (the spine is yellow just so you know), this is a great addition to anyone's collection. Lindsey takes you to Paris with a bird's eye view, the local perspective. The book sort of serves for a beautiful representation of the places we got to visit as well.On a more important note, the places she recommends are places where I felt like I belonged/was most welcome. Although I would like to just walk into any shop as a visitor and feel 100% comfortable, the mentioned cafés or restaurants she lists ( i.e. Holy Belly, Cafe Oberkampf, Septime, Boot Café) are places where I could still pretend I was fluent in French and not feel like I was an annoying tourist. As I mentioned above, her writing is also impeccable and I found myself being transported by mentions of authors or other places she's lived. I really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to her next book. In the meantime, I also follow her on social media (Instagram etc.), her podcast, or her blog. She is always updating her recommendations. As someone who visits about once a year or every other year, I find her advice and suggestions useful.

Great for finding new fun places in Paris for coffee, drinks and really good food
I enjoyed using this book to find some great new places to try in Paris. I also enjoyed reading about the new food movement and some of the new chefs, coffee roasters, and organic vegetable places. If you are into food and spend time in Paris then I would recommend this book as it makes it fun to go out and track down some of these new places for coffee, drinks or really good fresh food. My favorite restaurant I tried from the book so far is Clamato but I look forward to trying more places on our next trip. Wish I bought the paper version rather than the kindle though so that I could keep all my notes about the different places in the book itself.

Tramuta is the voice of what Paris has become and what it will be
I've been anxiously awaiting the release of this book for months. With insightful and interesting writing and beautiful photographs, a story of the true Paris is told. While the "old" Paris is still alive and well (and great for first time visitors) Lindsey Tramuta has established herself as the voice of what Paris has become and will be. A must have for anyone who will be a first time visitor or makes repeated trips. On a personal note, so much of what Lindsey writes in this book happened during the fives years I lived in Paris and as I read and reread about this movement, I feel nostalgic and sentimental about such a wonderful place.

I fell in love with Paris all over again through this book
I've been visiting Paris for many years and have come to fall in love with it again through Lindsey's book. Many may view this a travel or food book, and they would not be wrong. But to me it is so much more! As an urban planner and lover of cities and how they tick, The New Paris explains how talent, innovation and the sweat equity of many young entrepreneurs is essentially reshaping and redefining the City of Lights. Lindsey has so well captured the essence of this renaissance and the spirit of all things Parisian. The quality of the photos, writings and even the feel and touch of the paper are beautifully executed. Ask Santa for one today!

Hoping for something different
I ordered this pre publication and was really looking forward to it. I was surprised that it was more like a textbook in size and content. I have made frequent extended visits to Paris. Most of the recommendations are in the 10th and 11th and the ones I checked out seemed to be too much alike ( shopping). Quite a bit of history included. I agree with another reviewer who recommends you just wander the streets and make your own discoveries. Paris is full of beautiful intriguing sites. This is too heavy to carry around,so you have to make notes or photograph pages. There is a list in the back , about 15 pages, of Favorites that could be helpful.

The New Paris will have you planning your next trip!
In The New Paris, Lindsey writes about the individuals and businesses working to make their city better, to help move her beyond her mythical past and who “have already made great inroads into leading it beyond its assumed role as a time capsule”. Far from being stuck in the past, Paris now is a “dynamic, vibrant place bursting with energy and ideas, a city open to what the rest of the world has to offer it and far more cosmopolitan in attitude than ever before.” This new creative movement, in part fueled by the economic crisis (la crise) of 2008 has given birth to a whole new way of (approaching) life. The book features a thorough look at the rapidly evolving worlds of food, wine, pastry, coffee, beer, fashion, and design (if you follow Lindsey on Instagram, many of these places will already be familiar to you, her feed is a veritable dynamic travel guide) and highlights places, ideas and people making their mark in Paris today with this new creative, entrepreneurial spirit.Chapters include: Food & Dining, Coffee, Sweets, Libations, Shopping & Crafts and Places & Spaces and there’s a special section highlighting Lindsey’s favourites which could totally be the only “travel guide” you need for a trip to Paris (Lindsey’s recommendations have always been solid – from coffee to sweet treats, her ideas have fuelled (literally) a number of “research” sessions when I’ve been in Paris!).(I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review but I also purchased a copy of this book for myself)
