Josh's Frogs Producing Flightless Golden Hydei Fruit Fly Culture

Bought this on June 1st and when they shipped in I thought they were for sure all dead cause they delivered a day early and put in my Texas mail box cooking for six hours in temps up to 107. Took them out and left them on my frog shelf, completely forgotten about.Today is July 28th, and upon doing some deep cleaning, these guys were apparently THRIVING and to think I was going to throw this away! I’ve got a fantastic colony restarted in a cleaner environment and they are doing amazing! What a weird surprise!

My little pacific tree frog loves these. I hear him snapping them up all night long. The only problem I had was that I probably kept them too warm, because they started flying after awhile and now I have a really bad fruit fly infestation in my kitchen lol! So don't forget to keep them in a cool area or you'll have little flying buggies everywhere !

Bought 2 crushed and dead cultures nearly 50 bucks of feeder insect arrived not alive and clearly abused.No refunds available be aware. Josh’s Frogs never made it right nor provided me any flys that were paid for.I never recieved the flys that I paid for. Their customer service is non-existent and never helped me because every time I call it goes to voicemail and they never return any of my calls or emails

Definitely good culture, 100s of pupae, 100s more maggots. 100% dead on arrival. Considering 100s and 100s in the cup, at all stages, all dead, no survivors, makes me think that USPS is trying somehow to discourage people from ordering this type of cargo. Shipping was quick, temps were nowhere near what it takes to kill entire culture like that.I ordered from JF once before, that time temperature was higher, box came upside down, despite huge arrow on the shipper indicating top side. I got enough live hydei from that culture to keep Carolina happy for a while though.Bottom line, if you'll get them alive, they're very nice, healthy cultures, but you are always at the mercy of your postal service.

The first shipment was null; however, the replacement was bursting with golden flies--a color I had never seen. To ease the culture load, I started three new colonies.

Yet again Joshs Frogs has delivered quality producing fruit flies and packed perfectly for our cold weather. I never worry about ordering form Josh's Frogs because the always delivery quality feeders.*Not a paid endorsement, I just have been a big supporter of Josh frogs for all the help and information they put out for the dart frog and vivarium community.

The product arrived a mess. The instructions indicated to let it sit, and it did appear somewhat better and some flies were produced, unfortunately it never produced much and arrived full of mites. The flies were a great size tho larger than at pet stores, just wish they arrived in better condition.
