Perfect light weight and non threatening looking self defense knife
It looks like a non threatening pocket knife but is just big and sturdy enough to deploy and cut flesh deep with those serrations.Remember...... A serrated blade cuts 3 times deeper than a plain blade. So this will get through jackets and clothing and get to the meat where a plain blade may not. It's made by Spyderco so you know you can trust the lock up and blade steel, which is a cheap Chinese version of aus8 (8cr13mov). All things considered if you buy this a a lightweight self defense knife that steel will work just fine. But if you plan on using it for everyday tasks, buy the plain blade version so you can sharpen it easily. As is the case with everything made by Spyderco, it's a bit over priced for the materials used and in this case considering it's made in China as well....But it's under 50 bucks and it's a very lightweight and good design for self defense. You could Def do worse...... I got one for my teenager so he can be armed without carrying some scary looking thing that will get the cops attention (or God for I'd a jury clutching their pearls in a courtroom).

I keep this in my EDC bag along with its sister serrated edge for (just in case)...

Good knife after a few hours of working on it.
Came in rough shape. Poor opening and the scales were awful. So I oiled the pivot and worked it for maybe a 100 times. Then I took files and sandpaper to the scales. Now it is smooth and opens well. The backlock is still too stiff, but it is secure. It is a big knife for the money, so a little investment in my time is OK.
