My favorite Police album by far
The Police recorded a lot of great songs in their relatively short time together, but "Regatta de Blanc" stands out to me as what "the band" was all about. Also, most of their albums are a bit spotty, with some outstanding "hits" sprinkled with much weaker tracks. This album flows from start to finish, without a weak track, at least for my taste. And it's truly a band album, the trio being a trio.Later Police albums were interesting but those were often "Sting solo" albums with layers of extra instrumentation, even though they had the name of The Police. I find those later albums too gimmicky and "pop" for my taste, which doesn't mean they aren't great for what they are. But if you like your Police to sound like a real "band" doing one enjoyable song after another, this album was never topped.

A Brilliant Blend of Rock and Reggae
"Reggatta de Blanc" by The Police is an incredible album that showcases their unique blend of rock and reggae. Featuring standout tracks like "Message in a Bottle," "Walking on the Moon," and "The Bed's Too Big Without You," this album is a testament to their innovative sound. Owning this on vinyl enhances the listening experience, bringing out the rich tones and vibrant rhythms. Seeing The Police on their reunion tour was a highlight of my life, and this album always brings back those amazing memories. A must-have for any collection!

Their 2nd Best Album! One of My All-Time Favourites!
This digipak version of this great album is a real treat because they did a great job remastering this. The sound quality is very good and seems to have given the whole album a whole new lease of life; it's almost as if I'm listening to this for the first time.Although many people like "Synchronicity" and probably first started being Police fans after that album, I was a fan from the early days when I first heard "Don't Stand So Close To Me" from the "Zenyatta Mondatta" album. The sounds I heard just blew me away; the uniqueness of the music and the fact that the band, almost zen-like, used like the Eastern artists do, no sound or silence as an important part of their music. If you look at Eastern, Chinese or Japanese art, the space that is not painted on is just as important as the part that is painted. One could "over-paint" and destroy what would have been a great piece of art. Similarly in the music of the Police, you'll notice that the space or the parts without any music allows the tracks to breathe and the "spaci-ness" actually is a Police trademark and works very well for them; too many notes and it just wouldn't work.Perfect examples of this are on "Walking On the Moon" and "The Bed's Too Big Without You." Contrast this with the more "busy" tracks like "Message In a Bottle" and "No Time This Time" and you'll see what I mean about like fine wine, letting the music breathe to attain maximum aural effect and The Police were masters at doing this. From an overall great complete, coherent, flowing album perspective, this album is second only to "Zenyatta Mondatta" but miles ahead of "Synchronicity" which had great singles but sounds very disjointed as an overall album and truth be told had some pissed poor tracks like "Mother" and "Synchronicity 1" and if ever an album would have been better off with one less track, that one was it as "Murder By Numbers" although a great track on its own, should never have been on the album. No weak tracks on this baby, though and given the great digipak packaging and the great remastered sound, this is the version that you should get. Highly recommended.

A Classic from the 1970s
The Police only released 5 studio albums during their brief run. All five are exceptional. Reggatta de Blanc is solid from start to finish.

~Regatta De Blanc is a pretty good set coming off their Debut a year earlier ~
This is the POLICE's 2nd album, coming out in 1979. This album is really good all the way through. I had never had it on CD before and these 2003 Remaster/Digipaks are just wonderful! The album has never sounded better.I was fortunate enough to have been around the '80s when CDs first started to come onto the market. Wow, what a sound, but there were still some problems at the time. Low recording volumes overall, some "hiss" still present in the tracks, but over time, this format has really improved. Most notably in the 1990s when you had a few companies like DCC and Mobile Fidelity making 24K Gold plated CDs that went back to the original master tapes and performed some of the most extensive mastering ever to be heard. They are still highly regarded and valuable today, commanding upwards of $400 each for some rare titles and the music on them sounds impeccable. If you ever get a chance to own one of these of your favorite album, I suggest you do it!I would recommend this and ALL Police CDs done this way, the 2003 Digipak Remasters. You will NOT be disappointed!!11 Tracks in all, with 2 radio play "hits", Message In A Bottle" and "Walking On The Moon" are obvious but there are other gems here as well. I love my Sting and The Police. I have all 5 of their albums now and they are great.
