Worth their weight in gold!
After a catastrophic flood turned half our home into a water park (thanks, broken toilet! ), we figured it was time to stop tempting fate and got a few of these units. And wow, are we glad we did! They’ve already saved us from what seems to be our ongoing battle against water. It detected a leak under the kitchen sink (seal gone bad), a dehumidifier that decided to hydrate the floor instead of the air, and an HVAC sump pump in the attic that apparently decided to take a break. I’m starting to think we’re just cursed when it comes to water. Should I invest in a boat next?I’m genuinely impressed by how long the battery lasts. Plus, the alarm is so loud that it could probably wake the neighbors...

Highly recommend!
These really work! A must have for RV’ers. They have paid for themselves a couple of times when we had small leaks. It doesn’t take much water to set them off. I’m thinking of ordering some for our house to put under sinks and water heaters. Highly recommend!

Meets a need but needs some work
The Zircon Leak Alert WiFi meets the need for a self-contained wireless water alert but needs improvement.First the Pros....A big plus for the Zircon is that it is all self-contained. You do not need a base station or any kind of additional wiring. It runs on a single CR123 lithium battery that is easy to replace. The setup, although different, is reasonably easy if you underst basic WiFi. To configure, you press a button that commands the box to create its own SSID. Find it on your phone and log in. You then tell the Zircon about your regular WiFi, select that SSID and enter the password. If you understand all that then you should not have trouble with the rest of the setup. One thing to make clear...It is possible to alert by email AND messaging using SMS. Perform an internet search on how to send an SMS message by email to your smartphone. It varies by carrier. It works great and you can get an alert immediately. Make sure you use SMS to send the email to your phone. Now to the cons...It uses up batteries much faster than a non-wifi model. Buy the CR123s in bulk because you will change often, about every 3 or 4 months. Short battery life is the price you pay for having such a small box that floats. A serious flaw is that the battery 'End-Of-Life' message is iffy at best. Occasionally it will message you about a spent battery but this is rare; Almost never. Zircon, this is a big deal that needs to be addressed. The Zircon does send out a regular health report every SIX DAYS, not weekly. You read that right, every SIX DAYS. What were you thinking? Did you run out of RAM or something? Therefore, to make sure it is still working you must check for a message or email every six days. It only goes online when it alarms or checks in. You cannot ping to check for signs of life.If you have only one Zircon then this might be relatively easy. We own six so have to keep a running checklist on last check-ins. Consider changing out the battery every 90 days on principle.Another con is shorter WiFi range than other devices. A small box placed on a concrete slab limits range. It is what it is.In summary, I hope that Zircon keeps selling these WiFi alerts. We have six. Some under sinks, by a water heater, by a sump pump. They have saved us from rotting wood and a flooded basement. They are a pain to monitor but worth it to us. And Zircon, please fix the spent battery alert. I get it, a lithium change of state voltage drop is not easy to detect, but smoke alarm makers seem to have figured it out. And a six day status schedule? Make it seven.

Reliable water sensors
I've had these water sensors now for more than a year. They alerted me to one leak, which prevented a messy situation.Instead of just beeping or chirping when they are triggered, they repeatedly send an SOS in Morse Code. This is helpful because it distinguishes their sound from other devices in my home that beep.Put one anywhere that a leak might occur and you'll save yourself a lot of money and anguish.

Best $22 I ever spent!
I live in a basement apartment and there has been a problem of flooding during heavy rains. In the furnace room water comes in through a crack in the foundation. The landlord has tried many times to patch the leak, but you never know till it rains again. In the past my first clue was when I stepped in a puddle of water. Then I would be throwing down a bunch of towels and wringing them out again and again until the rain stopped. So I ordered a set of these water detectors. They arrived on Dec 22. The set up was so easy. I just inserted a 9 volt battery and set them in place. Today, Dec 27, I was awoken at 1:00 am by the sound of the alarm. It sounds different than a smoke alarm, but still loud enough to wake me up. I went to the furnace room and found the floor slightly wet. I put down one towel, and moved the detector a little ways from it. When the towel became saturated, the alarm told me it was time to change towels. So much easier than what I used to go through. The best $22 I ever spent!

Works as described
Bought these as a precaution to use on our waterheater and A/C unit after hearing about a waterheater leaking through the ceiling incident from a coworker. Months later the device I had placed in the pan under the A/C unit activated and could be heard loud and clear from inside the house. The main drain had clogged and was discharging to the pan. I'd say they have paid for themselves many times over and would highly recommend.
