The price on this was certainly reasonable. However I have three issues. The first is that it shipped with some of the batteries installed which tells me that this wasn't brand new. The second is that the power socket has no conductors, it is only a plastic plug and you can't plug it into AC which you should be able to do. I bought separately an AC adapter designed to fit this unit and it can't plug in. The third is that though it says it can be connected to a PC, there is no guidance provided nor is there the proper cable to connect.

Great label maker
Great label maker. I wished they were all as good as this one. You can see more than four characters at a time. Wonderful!

Item Discontinued and Out of Date
This label maker makes labels as good as their $20 machine. If you're buying it for the computer interface, forget it unless your computer can accomodate a "firmy disk" and a serial port. I haven't seen those in ten years.

Good But For One Thing
This is not a bad printer. It is more flexible than most but that depends on having a computer it can run on which is a problem as it is very old. The main problem I had was that the tape puts the printing on the outer surface of the tape, unlike the P-Touch tape where the printing has a laminated covering over it. This means that if you use a strong cleaner or have the label in a place where the surface is rubbed against the printing will rub off. This was a fatal weakness in the use I was intending. The printing faded after a few cleanings.

Has features I need
One of the main reasons I bought this printer was its ability to print up to 8 lines on the label, enabling me to get all the info I need on a small label. Even though the computer interface needs updating (all you yahoos that can't use older tech need an education), it greatly simplifies the label making process.

Casio KL 8100
This old machine is perfect, I bought a CD printer from casio and like it so much , that I bought this label machine and is as good as the cd printer. Because this machine is old, the PC interface is a RS 232 connector, which is not available anymore with this new computers, so I bought an USB to RS232 adapter, and installed the drivers and then you have to manually assign the port which the program that comes with the machine will use to send info to the label machine. After a while the machine finally worked just like the CD printer .The program included in the package lets you write any type of letter and copy and paste pictures on the label or design whatever you want and then print it, as long it fit on the predetermined space, it will print. So far i've done many prints and it works flawlessly.
