Loved it-easy and great color.
Loved the color and was a solution for me. My hair was colored blonde on blonde, growing out with darker charcoal roots and with beautiful silver! I debated whether to go all platinum or silver, then decided that I do not want the tedious upkeep. I am familiar with taking care of my own hair as my precious momma once owned a beauty salon and taught me how to color and even streak! Mom passed away and now it is all up to me-difficult. So I looked through all the colors, and knew L' Oreal was very gentle on the hair, especially the conditioner (I used it years ago). I chose Excellence 8N Medium Natural Blonde, just for the roots with a quick 3-5 minute blend where the root meets the rest of the hair. Roots came up to a pretty blonde (even beige tone-not brassy at all) and I am very pleased that it took such little time, and looks lovely! Thank you L' Oreal- you can hire me to promote! Ha Ha

Love this haircolor - but you have to use it in a particular way.
This hair color works more like a glaze or even the way that a semi permanent hair color works except it's permanent. It doesn't seem to lift color, it only lays down color. I think that is why many people complain of it being too dark. But if you use it in the right way it is great! The trick, especially if you have less than 70% gray and up to medium brown hair, is to use a blonde so that your grays are highlighted and your natural color is only darkened a little bit. On my medium brown and gray hair the 8G Medium Soft Golden Blond works great. It doesn't look like that box at all because of all the darker hair that I have, but the finished result is exactly what I wanted - a kind of highlight/low light look. The transitions between tones is nice and the blonde highlights are sparkily. One tip that I think helped with the final result is that I first used Color Oops on my hair to remove as much of the old hair dye as possible to aid in my hair not turning too dark and also to get the nice highlights too. When you use Color Oops on medium brown hair that's been dyed, afterwards you end up with reddish hair from the previous lifting of color. But when you put this hair dye on afterwards, the red mellows out to a very nice golden blonde/brown.The bottom line - if you still have some of you natural color you will not get the super blondey blonde that's on the box because this hair color doesn't lift, but if you like the highlight/lowlight look, this can be achieved with this hair color. Just make sure you choose a blonde or you are likely to end up with much darker hair than you expected.

Works well
This does look more natural than some others. Easy to use. Although, it may dry out your hair a little, or it seems to. Just use lots of conditioner.

Covers grey 👍
Exactly what I was looking for and hard to find in stores anywhere. This is the only color that covers grey and lasts for the months growth.

long lost friend
Love - could no longer find in my store locally - always the same thing - find something you love, and Poof -it's gone. This came pretty quick, and did as is it is supposed to do. A little higher in price than I'm used to but, I found it!

The color is excellent, but the ammonia odor... yikes!
I bought this to even-out my roots when another coloring product didn't seem well-absorbed by my roots and recently dyed hair. This product worked okay. Not great, but my haircolor is more even. The dye is easy to use, but - oh my - the smell of the ammonia was horrendous. Even halfway through applying the color, I could barely see what I was doing. My eyes were watering that much.I'm pretty sure this product has been discontinued, and - if so - that's for a good reason. However, next time I color my hair, I'll spend more and use a product that's ammonia-free.My experience with this haircolor was enough to make me swear off all L'Oreal Excellence products for the foreseeable future. It improved the color of my roots so my hair is more even-toned and natural-looking, but that's all I can say in favor of this product. (My advice if you're in a similar situation: Spend more and get a top-quality product without ammonia.)
