When I ordered the CGSULIT SC870 I thought it was going to be like my old, simple, pull codes, clear codes, rinse & repeat OBDII scanner. I was so wrong. The features packed into this scanner are beyond robust, they are NEXT LEVEL.To begin with, the SC870 comes with a rugged case that neatly and easily accommodates the scanner, the diagnostic cable, the USB cable, and the manual. There’s no struggling to cram things in or items loosely jiggling around the closed case, everything is securely strapped in its own little place. The unit itself seems solidly built, has a nice feel to it, and includes a microSD card to hold the software and data.I was at first a bit worried that the product page only indicated Windows 7, but I had no trouble running the software on Windows 11. I saw another reviewer suggest that the (free lifetime) updates were slow to load. My unit came with all popular makes fully up to date and ready to go right out of the box. I did run updates just to check it out and found that by putting the microSD card directly in my computer (vs. connecting to the unit through the USB) the updates applied super fast. In addition to running updates, the software will also let you save and print neatly formatted diagnostic reports.The SC870 truly is an ALL-system, ALL-make scanner, just as advertised. Like any scanner, it’s fully capable of reading and clearing OBDII diagnostic trouble codes, but it does SO MUCH MORE. The SC870 fully unlocks the power of your modern vehicle’s computerized systems and gives you a complete, real-time window into everything going on (pressures, temperatures, fuel trims, electrical, throttle and valve positions, you name it). I had no idea how much information my car had, just waiting to show me with this tool.Did you know your car keeps track of when trouble codes were last cleared and past faults? Wouldn’t that be useful when considering purchasing a used car?!?! The quick, easy, and comprehensive all-system diagnostic report makes it easy to get a comprehensive heath report of your vehicle’s systems (as well as those of a vehicle you might consider buying). You can also drill down into real-time data with incredible detail, display data graphically, and have the scanner record for you if you wish to review later (or share with a friend, mechanic, etc.).I noticed another reviewer commented about having to manually input VIN numbers. I’ve used the unit on a handful of vehicles in the past few days and found that the AutoVIN feature works flawlessly when the engine is on (some may be accustomed to using a basic scanner only in Key On Engine Off). The SC870 is anything miles above a basic scanner and provides a wealth of information when your vehicle is running.I’m super impressed with my new favorite toy. My only complaint is I can’t stop playing with it. 😊

Purchased this scanner because of a CEL light on in my Honda Civic which was running rough. I hooked the scanner up pushed auto scan and pulled a Misfire on Cylinder 3 code which helped me diagnose a bad coil pack. This scanner is super quick at pulling and deleting CEL codes and has the capability of showing live data. The reader will quickly scan SRS and ABS lights which makes it super handy and a definite go to whenever a fault light comes on in your car/truck. Also has the ability to reset service reminder lights after performing scheduled maintenance on your vehicle. Another great feature I saw was being able to put your car in service mode if your vehicle is equipped with an electronic parking brake prior to doing any maintenance or repairs on the rear brakes. Perfect for an automotive technician in a shop or a DIY guy working on his own vehicles. Updates are easily done on a computer or laptop with the supplied cords. This scanner is very user friendly and comes in a nice compact case. Would suggest this to anyone looking for a scanner that has alot of features without breaking the bank.10/10 Highly Recommend!

Works great but, make sure to keep it at room temperature. If the screen gets too cold it takes a little while for it to come on. At least that’s what I experienced with mine.

This unit is an amazing tool for my repair and save my tons of money. It’s definitely a professional device for any car owner or even for a mechanic . It's incredibly easy to use.It took a few seconds to read the fault codes from my old Chevy, and found a brake and an airbag issues at the same time. The built-in library gave the exact definition, which is very convenient. The carry case is well made and everything is perfect. Will check the reset service late and updates.

I purchased this scanner because I wanted the ability to see the transmission temperature. Despite it's claim to be an all system scanner, it does not include trans temp. I tried to send a message to the company but the form on their web site to contact them does not submit on any browsers. I am returning.

Definitely buy this for DIY machanic, I have looked at the $400 auto store ones and this ones does everything except for the bi-lateral communication. Found out my passenger air bag is MIA and the transmission temp switch is malfunctioning straight out of the box pluged it in and did the auto vin pulled my 2011 kia right up and then did a full error scan it came up with everything that the expensive ones did and the best part is it was pocket friendly.

Overall the scan tool is very decent but the update download speed is extremely slow. This is not an Amazon fault but with CGSULIT servers/connection speed and to some extent the scan tool. Amazon representative I spoke with was very sympathetic and understanding with my frustration with updating the tool and offered a return on both, very appreciated gesture on his part. I told the agent (sorry don't recall his name) that I'd try CGSULIT for a solution. The CGSULIT tech told me to use a card reader instead to speed up the upgrade. They know the update "is slow, they're working on it." It took about 10 hours to fully upgrade each of these scantool (20 total hours) because some of files are megabyte in size. I tried updating both the SC870 and SC880, both were made for Amazon. The CGSULIT tech was very honest in telling me how to speed things up. Another point, use a USB 3.0 port part of problem with such a long update/data transfer is I was using USB 2.0, so most likely using 3.0 will speed things up. As for the cases, very well made, hard thicker plastic with locking tabs that have actual hinges not the thin plastic flap type tabs that molded with the case that tend to weaken and break off from repeated flexing. Inside the case there's even riveted anchored velcro-nylon straps that secure the tool, wires, and instructions inside the the case, very nice to have.
