Met all of the expectations

Guess I last watched this over 30 years ago, had almost forgotten it, however,recently was talking to a relative about favourite movies down the years, whichreminded me of a film loved and watched several times by my children back whenand myself., struggled to remember what it was called, however, stumbled upon itby accident on Prime Video, realized this was indeed the weepie I remembered.Had the option to rent or buy...as I am sure one or two of my now somewhat olderchildren will want to see it again I purchased.---Ex-boxing champion Billy Flynn (on Voight ) lives in the city of Hialeah, Florida, wherehe looks after his 8 year-old son T.J (Ricky Schroder) which he has done for the pastseven years since his partner Annie (Faye Dunnaway) walked out.These days Billy works as a horse trainer.T.J. calls his dad 'Champ'Trouble is, Billy drinks too much and gambles too much, but, if he wins he's generouslike the time he buys T.J a racehorse/Life changes, when at a race-meeting where T.J''s horse 'She's A Lady' is set to run,Annie who these days is a wealthy fashion designer is at the meeting and comes acrossher son she'd not seen for all these years, she wants now to get to know T.JBilly at first rejects her wishes but gives in, T.J does not know at first that Annie is his mother.Later after a gambling debt goes belly-up Billy will be arrested for fighting, whilst in prison fora short time he insists T.J goes to live with Annie and her husband believing they can offerT.J more.But, T.J wants to be with 'The Champ'Billy, wanting to give his son a better life will after a long absence opt to go back into thering to fight (he'd retired years before because of trauma to his head through taking too many punches)This is a very moving lale, sometimes funny but, you'll need your tissues handy.Picture quality not great, but, the film should be viewed....

This movie will make you cry but it’s a great movie that you will be clued to from beginning

Make sure you keep the kleenax close by. This is up there with the greatest tearjerkers of all time.

Als ich es zum ersten Mal im Fernsehen und dann viele Jahre später online sah, rührten mich die Tränen, obwohl es schon eine Weile her war. Ich bin immer noch so fasziniert von diesem bewegenden, Gänsehaut erzeugenden und Tränen erregenden Sportfilmdrama aus den 70ern. Zu Weihnachten habe ich mir an Herz gefasst und mir die DVD gekauft, und ich habe es nicht bereut. Die Hauptdarsteller: Jon Voight als Billy Flynn, Faye Dunaway als Annie Flynn, Ricky Schroder als Timothy Joseph Flynn als genannt „T.J.“, Jack Warden als Jackie, Joan Blondell als Dolly Kenyon, Arthur Hill als Mike, Strother Martin als Riley, Elisha Cook als Georgie, Stefan Gierasch als Charlie Goodman, Mary Jo Catlett als Josie, Dana Elcar als Hoffmaster und Anwalt, Sam Levene als Onkel Eddie haben alle In diesem Film anwesenden Schauspieler ihre Rollen perfekt gespielt. Handlung des Films: Billy Flynn ist 37 Jahre alt und war in jungen Jahren ein erfolgreicher Boxer. Dieser Zeit trauert er immer noch nach und überlegt, wie sein Leben hätte verlaufen können, wenn er sich etwas mehr angestrengt hätte. Jetzt verbringt er seine Zeit auf der Pferderennbahn und verdient sein Geld als Trainer für Galopprennpferde. Er boxt zwar gelegentlich noch, glaubt aber nicht an sein Comeback. Für seinen Sohn T.J. ist sein Vater der größte Held; er ist fest davon überzeugt, dass er noch einmal Karriere machen kann. Um seinem Sohn schließlich ein besseres Leben finanzieren zu können, steigt Billy Flynn noch einmal in den Ring.

35年くらい前テレビの洋画劇場で観て号泣した思い出がありまた観たくなったので購入しました。やっぱり今観ても泣きます。親子の絆をリアルに描いた作品です。子役の演技が天才すぎる。

Está mal granada o el disco está en mal estado y a los 32 min. más o menos se queda pillada y te salta al min. 42 más o menos... Pero la película es excelente y todo un clásico, con buenos actores, sobre todo el niño, el final la verdad que te hace soltar alguna lagrima, una película muy recomendable.
