Calico Hot Shot 2 Wind Resistant Lighter

I will add another 5 star review. I have tried every brand and this is the only one that puts out a serious flame. I've only used it down to the 30 degree range but it worked well. We use the BBQ in the winter and the electric igniter seems not to work well when it gets cold. I think this will be fine. We are at 4500 ft and it works well. Next summer we will be using it for camping up in the 10,000 to 12,000 ft range and we will test it out there and I will update the review. I bought the single pack version. Based upon what I see so far I will by the 3 pack version next time.Do I have a complaint? Yes; and that is that it is not refillable. Why can somebody not make one of these that works well and is refillable. There is a name brand or two that are refillable but they only have 2 or 3 star ratings. I would happily pay 25.00 for one of these that was refillable, that had this kind of flame output, and would last for years. A slightly longer flexible neck would be nice too. But until somebody comes out with that this is the best option.

This lighter works for its intended purpose. The one downside is that I used it approximately one dozen times to light a BBQ and it's already out of fuel. This brings me to the second and last downside, the lighter is not refillable. For the price and it's limited usability, I would not buy again.

I bought this to light candles and incense and with it creating such a powerful little flame torch, it is more suited for lighting gas firepits.

This lighter always works. It is somewhat amazing as this is the first lighter I have used in a long time that was pretty easy for me to work. I have some arthritis in my right thumb, and lots in my left, but I would use this lighter. It does not go out in the wind, at least so far!

Got so tired of matches. The boxes are scientifically designed to fall apart and the sandpaper striking surface is only good for 1/3 the supply of matches. The Hotshot works great, that torch effect really gets the flame where you need it, even in the wind as promised.. The matches go tomorrow when the garbage gets picked up..Very good for the fireplace and the grill, especially a chimney briquette starter.It ignites reliably, so far for me, but the safety switch is very stiff and the unit is non- refillable so it must be thrown away. Don't know how many cycles this is good for. When it runs out I will try to take it apart and see if it can have a longer, better life.

PROS:(1) STRONG FLAME: This is not like a typical lighter--it is more like a mini blow torch. The flame is extremely strong and can be lit and withstand wind. It does not bend up when the lighter is held at an angle.(2) ADJUSTABLE FLAME LEVEL: There is a switch on the lighter that permits you to adjust the strength of the flame. This feature permits you to conserve lighter fluid or produce a flame in strong wind.(3) EASY TO USE: Simple like a typical lighter. Does not require multiple attempts to get it to light.------------------------------------CONS: I believe this lighter may burn more fluid and, therefore, require replacement sooner.

Yes, stays lit in wind, but the flame is not adjustable. There is a lever that supposedly makes the flame stronger, but there is no discernible change when you move it. As the flame is so small, it does not easily light my gas grill. I would recommend for camping only.
