Q: What's the easiest way to peel away the backing? Or is there none? Thanks y'all!

Well, this is heat transfer vinyl (HTV) so you cut it with the shiny side down, mirrored, then weed away the design from the rest of the vinyl which will be on the dull side. It will then be left with the design which is placed on the material (T-shirt, wood etc). The reason it gets mirrored is because the “shiny side” is actually what serves as transfer tape & is just a little bit sticky so that the design doesn’t shift when placed on the item to be ironed. I hope I understand the question. Perhaps you didn't realize it was heat transfer vinyl, not the permanent stick on vinyl?

Q: Is a die-cut *machine* necessary to use this or can shapes be punched or cut out by hand w/art punches, scissors, etc?

You can use scissors to cut out anything you want. I am pretty sure strong punches can be used, too.

Q: Can you tell it’s chameleon color right away? Is this vin a single roll? Does it look dark teal in roll package?

You can tell it’s chameleon. Mine came in 6 flat sheets but only 3 colors. So 2 of each color.

Q: Does anyone know what to set the Silhouette cameo 3 to ?
