Good value
Restored/ rebuilt an old banjo and purchased this item to replace missing parts. Worked great and was a very fair price.

THESE ARE FOR APPEARENCE ONLY.....
I bought these for a banjo from the 20's that belonged to my late uncle. Being a guitar player I was interested in fooling around with this banjo also. It needed a new head, strings, bridge and tuners. Since it is an entry level quality banjo I didn't want to spend a lot to get it playable. I bought these tuners despite the poor reviews based on their cost. I was hoping I'd be the exception and get a decent set. Two of the four (it's a tenor banjo) were defective. One was totally free turning and wouldn't keep any tension at all on the string and the other the gearing was hit or miss and was impossible to keep the string in a tuned position. Removed them and returned. Will have to invest in a better name brand set.If you have a display piece these are fine. I was impressed when I received them as they looked great. Nice chrome and finish and installed easily. Was equally disappointed when the working capability of the tuners was so poor.

Cheap but they work
While I agree these are very cheap tuners they are still functional. I put them on a 130 year old Buckbee banjo to replace the old violin peg tuners. I have it strung up with nylon strings and the tuners hold tension well. Yes they look and feel cheap but they will work for the application. I recommend taking a little lite grease or oil and force it inside the tuners through the stat to make them perform a little smoother. Super duper fast shipping!

Also Function Nicely On A Mountain Dulcimer
I needed some concentric/coaxial tuners for a mountain dulcimer project and didn't need to break the bank doing so. These fit the bill perfectly. I'm not sure if I'd install them on my prized Deering or Gibson 5-stringer, but they are excellent for medium-duty use.

Yep, they're what they the reviews say, but fixable
Bought these for my home made banjo, was not looking for high dollar tuners. When they showed up, had same problems as the reviews. A good look over, seen how they came apart. Perty eazy. Pulled location pin, came out no problem. 2 pairs of pliers and unscewed body. Yep sure enough, medal shavings. From what I see, it came from drilling the location pin hole. Debred shaft and coller .Easy to clean, couple drops of oil reassemble, and works like high dollar one's. Did not want to wait for replacement parts, and have to do the same thing anyway, only took 15 minutes a tuner to fix. Unless you are not capable of mechanical repair, buy high dollar one. And yes there machine work is sloppy . Sorry forgot to take pictures, try to remember that on the next pair. Good luck

Not good
These are super crunchy and poorly machined. Might work on a ukulele if you can stand how rough the gears are

but these work great and tune smoothly
We bought these to replace another set of machine heads on my husband's old banjo. We did have to drill the holes a little bigger, but these work great and tune smoothly. Great price, and would definitely recommend.

Bad out of package.
Guess you get what you pay for.5th string tuner tuner slips and will not bring the string in tune.Don't waste your money. They are not worth what you pay for them.
