Outdated and a danger to the neurodivergent community!
Elaine's HSP theory is a danger to the neurodivergent community. I think all of this woman’s theories and resources need to be pulled! This book is outdated and should not be sold!I stumbled upon Elaine’s HSP definition when trying to understand my daughter, then 6 years old. I completed the checklists that Elaine provides. Yes! That’s it - my kiddo fit this exact description.Turns out, my daughter is actually gifted with ADHD and anxiety! By plopping a label as Highly Sensitive Child because Elaine's resources, definitions and checklists, we wasted years of treatment due this woman’s outdated information that is still published. There are actual proven reasons to help explain why my daughter is the way that she is, and proven treatment!Elaine is a danger to the neurodivergent community. If you think your child is a highly sensitive child or you are a highly sensitive person, do yourself a favor and get actual testing done first! Do not waste time with Elaine’s checklist or any of her nonsense as a first step. Start with complete testing by professions. Maybe there are people out there that are just Highly Sensitive People. In my experience, my daughter and I both fit Elaine's HSP profile. But - it is due to other underlying DSM diagnoses that can be treated with medications and therapies. It seems like Elaine is perhaps in denial that anyone in her family may actually be neurodivergent.
