Why are people saying it cannot be used as an inline pump? according to pics,remove control knob,connect fitting & place pump out of water.

The pump can be used in line on dry land or submerged.  Heat is generated by a running motor and the cooling of this pump motor is dependent on water.  If this pump is being run in line on dry land and for whatever reason the water flow to the pump ceases to flow, there is nothing now to remove the heat from the motor except the air surrounding the motor and it will get hot.  It is much safer to run this pump submerged.

Question 2

Bought the 1056 Gph model cannot find an adapter so that I can hook it up to flat filter box. 3/4”or 1” npt do not fit. what is the intake size?

inside diameter 1", outside threaded diameter and 1/8" diameter.  I bought the Tetra Pond Submersible filter and it came with the correct size fitting, one for each of the hose sizes available on  he market.  The threaded end that fit this pump is inside diameter 1", outside threaded diameter 1 and 1/8" diameter.  It took me a while to figure out the adjustable flow fitting is able to come off safely(mine was on very tight)  I want to find a fitting that has an inline adjustable flow so I can have the pump filter And the adjustable fitting.  Might just have to add small valve.  I just checked my pvc scraps and the fitting fits very nicely in the 1" Pipe.  I don't have a female threaded fitting to check this male, but I would bet the 1" threaded pvc would do the job.  If your box store doesn't have it check the wholesale irrigation store that sales drip line, they will have it.    Search Amazon for "1" threaded pvc  barbed".  This is really similar.  Just watch your outlet "Barbed" size to match your hose.  Hope this helps and this question isn't super old :)

Does this pump have adjustable flow?

The 120 GPH model does. It has a slotted round plate on the front that you twist to adjust how much water flows through the pump. Not sure about the 1000 GPH model.

Question 4

I was expecting a fitting to connect a hose to the pump inlet, but none was included. Where can I find one?

Mine came with 3 0r 4 different size inlet fittings. Contact the manufacturer. Parts are missing. ---- Now I am trying to find out the correct way to prime it (inline/out of water) w/o burning it up? Have you got yours up and running yet? Out of the water, by removing the control valve and connecting a hose straight to the sealed pump? Thx
