Be carefull this product is extremly flamable!
I installed about 32 sqr feet the sound dampening foam on the inside of my cnc machine cover. Right after instalation I needed to cut a hole in the metal cover. Sparks from the metal cutting wheel lit the foam on fire. I tried to stop the fire, but within 10 seconds it was out of control and within 20,seconds the fire has spread to all 32sqr feel of foam and it was was a blazing inferno! I closed up the machine which dampened the fire somewhat and then used two fire extinguishers to put it out. The entire scenario lasted less than 3 min. The foam was 80% gone. My cnc machine mostly survived. Light fixtures and Wires were burnt on the top of the machine nearest the fire and a black oily tar dripped all over the machine from the foam which I just spent the entire day cleaning up. To be fair, I don't think it would light with just one spark hitting it. I think it got pretty hot before it lit, but once it started burning, there was no stopping the spread of the fire . If you install this in a house, keep flames away and a fire extinguisher handy.

Reduce Sound with Thin Walls
We live in an apartment with extremely thin walls. I could hear people laughing, talking and breathing very clearly. With these itโs muffled like walls are supposed to be. I wish it came with an adhesive though. Use a spray adhesive, poster strips work but barely. We also paired it with weather strip for the gap under the door. You also need it on both sides of the door. It only reduces sound coming towards it.

Great bargain, not uniform but they'll do. This is NOT for eliminating all sound.
First - you need to understand what the purpose of these panels is. Many of the negative reviews state that it didn't make things quiet enough etc, and of course not because it isn't designed to. These foam panels are designed to reduce higher-frequency reflected sound (like echos) which makes listening to speakers or recording on a mic much clearer. To that end, they work great. I installed these yesterday in my home theater room and they did exactly what I wanted - eliminated first reflections off my walls and ceiling from the forward 5 speakers. Dialogue and sound effects in movies are much more crisp and clear now, in addition to surround effects being clearer, sharper, and easier to localize since I'm not hearing a reflected sound on the wrong side slightly after the original speaker sound hits me.As others mention, the foam quality is great, but whoever cuts these is on crack. They are definitely not uniform 12" x 12" so you need to accept that you can't make perfect square or rectangle patterns with them. Also, they are not a uniform color. I bought 2 packs of 12 each and have a variety of blacks ranging from almost dark grey to deep black color, but this doesn't bother me considering how dirt cheap they are and that while watching a movie the lights are dim or off and you shouldn't be looking at the walls or ceiling anyway.Highly recommend these for an inexpensive home theater room to eliminate unwanted echoes, or a recording studio to give a cleaner, flatter sound. I might end up buying more to cover more of my walls for an even flatter, tighter sound experience.Note: many reviews for foam mounting state that spray adhesive doesn't work but I think they were using either a wrong kind or had a poor application technique. I bought some 3M number 45 stuff at a hardware store and sprayed the wall and foam separately, waiting about 30-60 seconds for the adhesive to tack slightly before pressing the foam into place. This has created quite a strong bond and I'm positive the foam is not going to fall off my ceiling or walls any time soon.

Muffles sound well.
Bought these to decrease sound of our air intake. Tacked them on the wall around the furnace unit. What a difference! I couldn't hear myself think before. Life-changing.

Used it to line a case
I received a large rifle case as a gift, but unfortunately, it didn't include the foam inserts. I checked the manufacturer's web store, as well as several 3rd party vendors here on Amazon, only to find that getting pre-fit foam inserts, or even just large pieces I could trim down that were made from the same polyurethane as these, could cost hundreds of dollars. This kind of foam is everywhere, and it's hard to believe such a thing could cost that much, so I searched for the best deal I could find on something similar, and this was it. I was able to cut down the pieces to where they had just a slight overlap with the inside of the case, and stuff them in there, and it works perfectly. I haven't even bothered to glue it, because the foam's own expansion holds itself in place, despite being several different pieces.
