I acquired a taste for poi at my first luau in Hawaii altogether too many years ago. Whenever I vacationed in the state, I tried to get some more. Since I live 5000 miles from the source, this addiction has gotten expensive (fortunately, I have other reasons for going to Hawaii). So I decided it was time I learned to make my own. The local grocery stores sometimes carried a dryland taro (edo) and I made poi from that, but it just wasn't the same.Then I got a brainstorm and found this on Amazon. And it works perfectly!In a pot big enough to cover the taro with water, boil for 45 minutes. Peel. Cut into chunks about 1 cubic inch and place in a blender with a volume of water about half that of the boiled taro. Puree.This quantity will make about 12 pounds of poi. (Which you can divide into convenient-sized servings and freeze.)

Came in good condition....there was a tiny bit (less than dime size) of mold on the skin of one root which, of course, I just cut off. Roots felt , smelled and looked fresh. I like taro as an alternative to potatoes.

Product arrived fresh and very well packaged. Received quality produce at a reasonable price.

This product was a waste of money. I would have sent it but the odor was so bad, I couldn’t bring myself to go into FedEx. Rotten!!! Wrapped in plastic and just nasty.
